THE ROLE

Core Data Services team is at the center of Data and Analytics initiatives. We are building a modern data platform to support enterprise data needs. Our mission and yours too should you choose to join us, is to empower and enable our data community of data engineers, data scientists, analysts, product teams and decision makers to create value.

We are building a highly functional, performant modern enterprise Data Lake while supporting our current data platforms. We focus on creating trusted, usable data assets in an environment that enables LNE teams to drive value for fans and our business. This is what defines us as a Core Data Services Team.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
• Supervise the design, development, and implementation of data engineering infrastructure, as well as the 24x7 operational support of data pipelines, databases, and business intelligence.
• Direct a group of support engineers and data engineers and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of scalable and efficient data solutions.
• Lead incident triage calls for operations, manage escalations, and lead the team in resolving incidents.
• Manage problem resolution and root cause analysis.
• Establish operational best practices and service level agreements.
• Peer review of ETL code to assure compliance with standards.
• Work with auditors to assure compliance with PCI and SOX.
• Implement proactive and metric-driven operations.
• Manage cross-team dependencies and collaborate with tech leaders on solution development.
• Encourages a culture of team-based decision-making, responsibility, and ownership.
• Manage and mentor a global team of data engineers, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and lifelong learning.
• Set performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide feedback to team members.
• Identify skill gaps and training requirements within the team and construct development plans accordingly.
• Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace, ensuring that all team members have equal access to opportunities.
• Supervise the design, development, and maintenance of a scalable infrastructure for data engineering, ensuring its optimal performance and dependability.
• Drive the implementation of efficient data processing pipelines and workflows to support initiatives in the areas of analytics, reporting, and machine learning.
• Monitor system performance, recognize constraints, and implement solutions to optimize data engineering processes.

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING
• 10+ years of proven experience in data operations, with an emphasis on complex data infrastructure and operations
• Strong expertise is required in databases, Business Intelligence, and ETL operational support.
• Databricks and Snowflake operational experience required
• A track record of establishing successful offshore operations teams from the ground up is required
• Experience with offshore vendor management and key performance indicators (KPIs) is required.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends to address operational problems as needed
• A working knowledge of Databricks, Snowflake, Teradata, Oracle, or Google Big Query is required.
• Experience with Amazon AWS, Google GCP, or Microsoft Azure cloud services is required.
• Ability to roll up one's sleeves, perform hands-on troubleshooting, and lead a team to address operational issues, reduce MTTR, and meet operational SLAs.
• Strong leadership and management abilities, as well as experience building high-performing teams.
• Requires a comprehensive knowledge of data engineering principles, solid management skills, and the ability to drive innovation and operational excellence.
• In-depth knowledge of numerous technologies, governance frameworks, data security, and data platforms.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, both orally and in writing.
• Experience working in a geographically and culturally diverse environment with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent teamwork and partnership abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal management and persuasion skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while focusing on results and delivery.
• Utilization of ANSI SQL
