CURRENT SITUATION AND OPPORTUNITY
Our London studio is looking for a mid/senior-level Design Producer - passionate about Design and Animation - to join the Creative Production team.
Tasked with achieving creative excellence, developing and maintaining strong client relationships and maximising profitability for The Mill, you will provide end-to-end content, craft, and design to Agencies whilst also focusing on our relationships with direct-to-brand clients.
ROLE OVERVIEW
A Design Producer is responsible for running all of The Mill's end-to-end Design and Direction productions, both from brands and agencies. You will be assigned projects by the Exec Producer for Design and will be responsible for seeing these projects through from award to delivery. You will need to manage the smooth running of all aspects of the job and ensure that it is profitable, delivered on time and that the clients are happy.
The Design Producer will work closely with the Head of Design and Snr Artists within the design team to run projects and pitch new work. Although based in London, you will also be part of The Mill Design Studio's Global team and work collaboratively with artists and producers from our other Design Studio hubs.
You will engage with other internal departments at The Mill, expecting to build excellent communication with their artists and an understanding of our processes. You will frequently work with freelance artists and third-party vendors and will be required to maintain successful collaborative relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan and manage design and animation projects and oversee services provided by other departments.
• Prepare accurate and detailed quotes for design and animation projects and VFX projects when required.
• Work closely with our Design Studio creative team and our Mill direction roster in creating pitch documents for new project opportunities.
• Line produce work and negotiate payment for work beyond the scope agreement.
• Provide cohesiveness and continuity for clients by working closely with your immediate production team to effectively utilise company resources.
• Provide creative and technical advice on post-production techniques and shooting requirements.
• Lead, guide and train Junior Producers and manage any personnel issues.
• Attend and advise client meetings and direct creative artists on the requirements of each project.
• Manage projects to achieve agreed targets on increased revenue. Keep the Executive Producer informed of no-charge jobs and negotiate with the client on future financial returns for these jobs.
• Provide ongoing line management during projects, managing the welfare of both creative and production teams.
• Brief schedulers and monitor project demands on creative artists to ensure they have sufficient support staff and resources for each project.
• Research and source new and up-and-coming directing/creative design and animation talent. Keep abreast of our competitors' talent, projects, and forward plan through a sales and marketing plan for quiet periods.
• Develop strong working relationships with artist talent across our global design studios.
• Reconciling and billing all costs as per client requirements and internal standards.
• Keep abreast of new techniques and equipment available on-site.
• Maintaining and adapting the schedule throughout the project.
• Tracking costs and creating overage bids if running over the approved budget.
• Ensuring there is clear communication with clients at all stages of the project. Clients should always be clear on schedules, key approval dates and if feedback is likely to push them over their budgets into overages.
• Work with the team internally and externally to develop creative production solutions in response to client briefs/comments and ensure high standards of creative excellence.
• Building client relationships with key contacts on jobs. Taking them out for client dinners, arranging presents etc., where appropriate.
• Build a contacts list of External vendors and Freelancers that can be brought on to jobs as and when their skill sets are required.
• As an end-to-end Producer, you will have to work with External Vendors such as Sound Houses, Composers etc. You will be required to learn how best to work with these vendors and ensure legal contracts are in place and budgets agreed upon.
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• An understanding of end-to-end production, Design and CG/VFX. Ideally, with three years + of experience.
• Strong knowledge of techniques within Design, Animation and VFX
• Exemplary time/project management skills & proven ability to prioritise conflicting tasks
• Ability to lead and develop pitches for new and existing clients
• Able to remain calm and confident in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of common file formats and resolutions
• Passion for design and animation
• Confident speaker and presenter
• True team player with an excellent work ethic
• Works with guidance, but not constant supervision
• Has a professional and efficient work ethic, is organised and a multi-tasker
• Very strong attention to detail
• Can work independently as well as part of a wider team
