Senior Accountant

Job Description

Tennis Channel's Senior Accountant for Operations and Core Services serves as operational business manager for Tennis Channel and is a key liaison between Tennis Channel Production Finance, Tennis Channel operational departments, and Corporate shared services teams. The ideal candidate will have an operational mindset, be familiar with media production/project accounting and operations, full cycle bookkeeping, and have a passion for workflow design & improvement. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who will work with and support the Director of Accounting.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Manage and improve Tennis Channel Finance core services workflows: accounts payable, freelance payroll, and receivables related to FAST channel / new business / production billbacks
• Serve as operational business manager/key point of contact for Tennis Channel Production Finance and new business department leaders
• Manage the Tennis Channel side of the corporate payable workflow in concert with Corporate shared services groups:
• Ensure efficient and timely payment of programming rights fees and other key payables
• Manage monthly expense accrual process
• Manage prepaid amortization process
• Perform actuals to budget variance analysis
• Perform financial review and approval of freelance payroll, including replenishment of prepaid balance and recording of actuals in the general ledger (variable usage process)
• Create and review journal entries as necessary in accordance with GAAP
• Reconcile and adjust balance sheet accounts monthly
• Other duties, ad hoc analysis, and requests as assigned.

Required qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
• C.P.A. or masters degree preferred
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a production or start-up environment
• Production Accounting experience preferred
• Entertainment or Sports experience preferred
• Strong communication skills, including ability to write proficient emails to upper/mid management
• Strong organizational skills, including using task lists and project planning schedules.
• Self-motivated and proactive, should be comfortable working in a dynamic new business environment as well as part of a team.
• Strong analytical skills
• Must have the ability to complete all entries and duties timely to meet reporting deadlines.
• Must have the ability to provide work free of errors (highly accurate, without frequent revisions and management review)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivot tables, etc.)
• Familiarity with Oracle or similar integrated cloud platform preferred

The base salary compensation range for this role is $90,000 to $115,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
