Senior Accountant (Operations)

Do you love sports, entertainment, and technology? Are you a flexible problem solver who likes a challenge? Tennis Channel (TC) is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team. TC's Senior Accountant is an integral part of the monthly close process, providing analysis and support for production costs for TC core business, DTC, and TC International. The Senior Accountant is the Accounting Manager's right hand, supporting the Director of Accounting and the Controller as well.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Production Accounting
• Coordinate monthly accounting for production and program costs by event/project
• Analyze project costs (actuals-to-budget) for overages; prepare related journal entries as noted below
• Work with TC Production Finance and corporate parent (Sinclair Broadcast Group/SBG) on process improvements such as implementation and management of Oracle Project Cost module; position will be responsible for reconciliation of event/project subledger to general ledger
• Provide support and analysis for DTC, TC International, and other new business growth areas
• Assist with weekly freelance payroll approval process for sports productions, working with Production Finance and third-party vendor to ensure timely and accurate review, payment, and funding of freelance payroll. Timecard volume fluctuates based on the tennis season.
• General Ledger
• Work closely with Accounting Manager and SBG accounting groups in coordination of monthly close process
• Coordinate accounting for prepaid assets, capitalized production costs, accrued expenses/liabilities, monthly amortization entries, and account reconciliations, including expense allocation for major tennis industry events (hospitality, tickets, etc.) and reconciliation of VISA purchasing card expenses
• Reconcile and adjust balance sheet accounts as assigned (prior period review)
• Create and review journal entries as necessary to perform responsibilities
• Reporting Packages / Analysis / Other
• Assist in preparation of monthly financial reporting package, including production and programming schedules for broadcast rights and capitalized production cost by event and line of business
• Assist in the tracking and reporting of contractual obligations and rights for Financial Reporting and Planning. Assist with setting up new process and procedures for rights with potential to migration to the corporate Rightsline contract management system
• Review & analyze monthly account analysis and trial balance reports
• Review and approve employee expense reimbursements and per diem payments as assigned
• • Assist in SBG financial reporting objectives including annual audit, revenue apportionment schedules, and tax filings
• Assist in integration with SBG accounting processes and implementation of system upgrades as required
• Other duties, ad hoc analysis, and requests as assigned

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
• CPA or masters preferred
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Project Accounting experience preferred
• Sports or Entertainment experience preferred
• Strong communication skills, including ability to write proficient emails to upper/mid management
• Strong organization skills, including using task lists and project planning schedules
• Strong analytical skills
• Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Must have the ability to complete all entries and duties timely to meet reporting deadlines.
• Must have the ability to provide work free of errors (highly accurate, without frequent revisions)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.)
• Familiarity with Oracle or similar integrated cloud platform preferred
