Responsibilities

NBC 6 and Telemundo 51 are looking for a Duopoly Multiplatform Managing Editor to oversee the production of video content for all platforms. We are looking for a strong, journalist with a track record of creative video storytelling and the knowledge of what works best on various digital and social media platforms. The role requires someone who will take a hands-on approach to coordinating daily and ongoing news coverage.

Primary responsibilities
• Coordinate with the Director of Multiplatform Content and Streaming and the Digital Managing Editor on strategy and execution of video storytelling.
• Supervise video team on creation of day-of news and enterprise video content.
• Help coordinate streaming opportunities on all platforms including Fast channels.
• Design and oversee the execution of social media strategy for both stations.
• Collaborate with the Words team to ensure stories are properly covered on all platforms and that the team is meeting and exceeding digital expectations.
• Approve and copy edit scripts for grammar, clarity, accuracy, creativity and adherence to NBC Universal legal and standards guidelines.
• Supervise curation of content on OTT apps.
• Monitor news sources including Google Trends and social media for story ideas.
• Ensure bylines, tags and SEO are used correctly.
• Interface with Telemundo and NBC national digital team on content and initiatives to ensure best practices.
• Manage the daily work with meteorologists for weather forecasts and augmented reality pieces.
• Develop a pool of original evergreen content to be published on the weekend.
• Rotate on-call weekend duties with other news managers.

Qualifications
• B.A. degree or equivalent in areas such as Journalism & Communications, or related field.
• Minimum of five years storytelling experience.
• Minimum one year of management experience.
• Bilingual Spanish/English both written and spoken is preferred.
• Must possess strong journalistic skills, have ability to write and edit broadcast and digital copy.
• Creative approach to storytelling and problem solving.
• Ability to make priority decisions under deadlines.
• Must be self-directed, highly organized and detail oriented.
• Must function well in a fast paced, multi-cultural environment.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.

Requirements:
• Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shift and willingness to travel and work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short notice.
• Able to work extended and flexible hours during hurricanes, emergency situations and breaking news.
• Must be willing to work in Miramar, FL.
• Must be 18 years or greater.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
