Overview:

Located in the historic city of San Antonio, Texas, KVDA provides Telemundo programming to the San Antonio DMA. The 19,000sqft facility was fully renovated in 2017, renewing both the architectural components and the core technology stack.

KVDA is looking for a Manager of Technology to support the technical day-to-day operation of the television station. The Manager of Technology will report into the station's General Manager, with a dotted line into the Regional Senior Director of Technology. This position is responsible for managing the broadcast engineering and operations staff; and as a department maintaining quality of service to viewers and fellow employees alike. This position also serves as the key engagement lead into other division & enterprise groups to ensure successful delivery of these services to their internal client groups. The Manager of Technology is also responsible for local management of the NBCUniversal Business Continuity and Environmental Health & Safety programs.

Job Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Regional Senior Director of Technology to provide local ownership of the station's TechOps strategy
• Provide the highest possible ''quality of service'' by providing technical and operations excellence for the local operations, enabling them to provide compelling news, programming and service to its viewers, clients and partners.
• Lead, mentor and develop the performance of the technical and operations teams including technology, media operations, and production operations.
• Partner with client Operations teams to promote a strong VOC to define requirements and deliver solutions that creatively solve business challenges or implement new processes across News, Production, Creative Services and other departments as needed.
• Lead the development and the efficient implementation of the business' long term technology strategies including development and execution of organizational development; the annual capital plan and management of multiple complex large-scale projects.
• Coordinate production, technology and facility needs across all departments and local businesses.
• Prepare and maintain department budgets, forecasts, plans and reports.
• Oversee the purchasing of equipment and the coordination of the stations' technological planning and development.
• Maintain relationships with vendors, and local distribution partners.
• Support all operational areas of the stations and their various programming platforms: News, Digital, Sales, Creative Services and Community Investment.
• Manage the implementation, commissioning, documentation, and operational handoff of new technology.
• Ensure the successful handoff and maintenance of all relevant documentation, system knowledge and support processes to the support & operational teams.
• Participate in the development and management of capital budgets
• Promote and ensure the use of key documentation processes and the transfer of knowledge across teams.
• Lead stations' Environment Health & Safety efforts and related reporting systems. Ensure compliance with NBCUniversal EHS overall programs, goals and objectives

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• BS in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5 plus years of proven media technology experience, including media systems, control rooms and distribution technologies

Additional Qualifications:
• Expert knowledge of news, operations, project management, broadcast production, technology, and finance
• Proven track record supporting a high-end news organization within a large market
• Must be a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively manage and delegate.
• Prior television station experience desired.
• Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven track record as a manager of large teams with strong ability to develop teams, leaders and a positive culture of accountability.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage competing efforts and deadlines on a continuous basis.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in San Antonio
• Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours, and on weekends with short notice
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
