Supervisor, Ingest Operations

Job Description

TEGNA's broadcast operations hub in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Supervisor for Ingest Operations to join our team. This position is part of a team responsible for all content processing and support for multiple stations in a 24 by 7 centralized environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of working independently or as part of a team. This position will work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities:
• Supervise and perform duties to ensure all national and local content is accurate and maintains integrity for all local stations on-air programming
• Provide technical and operational support, specific to Ingest for the Hub operations management and control staff
• Ensure that specified technical procedures and policies are being followed by the local stations and Ingest staff.
• Monitor current procedures and proactively suggest improvements as needed.
• Responsible for operations of playout server functions including content delivery, server space and general media management
• Prioritize daily Media needs and workflow priorities for Ingest team.
• Assist in managing the Ingest staff, to include scheduling, training, and performance appraisals.
• Assist with technical training of new and existing Ingest members to ensure all staff have a clear understanding of systems and hardware within the Hub Operations center
• Assist with creating SOP for new processes and workflows
• Follow up on all on-air discrepancies that are Ingest related with Operations Managers and local station personnel.

• BA/BS in a related field or equivalent experience
• Strong customer service attributes and skills required
• Strong organization and time management skills are a must
• Ability to troubleshoot, take immediate action, and resolve broadcast issues
• Acute attention to detail
• Unwavering composure in high-pressure situations
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Must have ability to deploy staff in strategic manner to support high profile and live events.
• Proficient in Excel and the entire Microsoft O365 suite of tools.
• Knowledge of and ability to use electronic equipment and computer hardware and software related to television broadcast operations, including video and audio routing equipment, file servers, remote transmitter monitoring equipment and multi-channel automation systems.
• Experience working successfully as part of a team
• Must be willing to work onsite at our facility in Charlotte, North Carolina
• Must be willing and available to work flexible hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, holidays in order to meet the needs of a 24x7 operation
• 4+ years of experience in a master control or production control room television environment
• Proven passion for media, television, and technology
• Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
• Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
• Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
