Overview

Turner Classic Movies is looking for an experienced writer to supervise the scripting process for our five TCM on-air hosts. The successful candidate will work closely with the TCM Studio Production team and a pool of freelance researchers, writers and fact-checkers to produce compelling introductions that bring classic films to TCM audiences on linear, HBO Max and beyond. This person will also help promote our new brand positioning of ''Culture Forward, Classic Inspired'' within all of our scripted material.

The Supervising Writer will have a meticulous eye for detail, a passion for storytelling and an appreciation for classic films and the artists that brought them to life. This person must have the ability to write original scripts that suit the individual voices of each of our hosts, and shape the work of freelance writers and TCM hosts who write their own material. The successful candidate will be able to work with multiple deadlines that encompass the research, writing, copy-editing and fact-checking of each original script that appears on the linear channel and the ''Classics Curated by TCM'' hub on HBO Max. This person will oversee programming changes as it affects our hosts' material, occasionally operating on tight turn-arounds. They will show good judgement to produce scripts that fit our TCM brand and increase our audience, and they will work closely with the marketing and social teams to elevate priority projects and DEI initiatives.

CREATING CONTENT FOR TCM HUB ON HBO MAX

The Daily
• Working with freelance researchers to obtain materials for original scripts
• Writing and/or assigning the writing of scripts for our five TCM On-Air hosts, each of whom has their own style and voice
• Shepherding scripts through the edit and fact-check process, and serving as the final edit before scripts are delivered for production
• Overseeing programming updates and changes as it affects our hosts' scripts
• Working with the TCM Studio Production team to ensure accuracy and maintain the quality of the TCM brand
• Working with the social and marketing teams to better align on priority initiatives

The Essentials
• 5 + years experience as a professional writer
• Superior writing skills
• A self-starter who is comfortable working on rolling deadlines, able to switch rapidly between projects and occasionally work on tight turn-arounds
• Comfortable working with multiple talent
• Good communication skills, plus inter- and intra-group relations skills
• A strategic thinker who exhibits good judgment
