Summary of Position:

Lead the following key technology functions for Starz – Data Platforms & Engineering and System/Cloud Architecture. Drive thought leadership and innovation in these domains. Partner with business and technology leadership to make sure efforts are in support of Starz business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Data Platform & Engineering

• Data Architecture – Assess current Starz Data Architecture vs Business Requirements and identify gaps and key areas to improve, consolidate, and simplify in current environment

• Data Platform & Analytics – Develop and maintain key data repositories and data feeds to provide the required data to support Starz Business Intelligence & Analysis capabilities. Streamline process of getting the data to the right place at the right time

• Partnering with the Digital Platforms team to enhance the data collection and analytics strategy to meet the needs of the Starz business for operational and marketing data

• Partnering with internal marketing teams to provide the necessary data capabilities to support consumer marketing efforts. Work closely with Google and Facebook to maximize value we can extract from their data tools

• Predictive Analytics – Use data and modern machine learning practices to help Starz/Lionsgate understand the potential market performance of content

• Data Strategy – In partnership with key business stakeholders, lead and define the Starz/Lionsgate strategy for utilizing data as a strategic asset for the company

• System & Cloud Architecture

• Act as Chief Architect for the Starz technology portfolio. Lead Starz Architecture and Security Council. Develop current and future state architecture models for Starz

• Lead Cloud/AWS relationship and infrastructure, including: architecture, cloud engineering, operations, security, and cost management

• Cloud Architecture - Align 4 key technology stacks – OTT, Broadcast, Content, and Data on an integrated and efficient cloud architecture. Assess areas of commonality across domains and drive efficient and reliable use of cloud assets

• Partnering with Broadcast Engineering to drive an architecture and cloud strategy to migrate linear product delivery to a cloud based solution by 2023

• Align service monitoring and incident response strategies across the stacks and develop an integrated service management capability for the organization

• Establish operational readiness processes for all capabilities entering into production

Qualifications:
• 15+ years leading the development and delivery of digital software and data products. Ability to bridge between business strategy and technology capabilities

• Experience utilizing data as a strategic asset for a business. Specifically, experience utilizing data to help grow a B2C business and a B2B2C business. Delivering value utilizing modern data analysis techniques

• Ability to partner with internal business stakeholders, outside partners and vendors, and technology development teams to define and drive a corporate data strategy

• Ability to assess and optimize the performance of engineering teams. Make sure that we have the right skills, structure, and processes to deliver on our business objectives

• Experience leading architecture and security functions in a digital online product environment

• Experience with Cloud engineering, deployments, and operations. AWS experience in particular is important

• Experience with product operations, service monitoring and management as well as incident response

• Experience with data, video streaming, mobile apps, web, and digital content technologies

• Ability to translate complex technical issues for business and executive audiences

• Background in hands-on software development in an agile environment
Other Requirements:
• BS degree (MS preferred)

• Experience in media driven businesses a big plus

• Prior Chief Data Officer or Chief Architect experience in a digital products company a plus
