Summary of Position

The primary role of the Senior Dalet Flex Software Engineer is to support development project, team, and team deliverables per business priorities. The team projects revolve around implementation of DAM/CMS product at an enterprise level for Starz and automate systems for premium video creation, storage and organizing. The overall workflow is a complex process, bringing together video, audio, and textual elements. It involves many stakeholders, from creative to legal to quality assurance and everything in between. The Senior Dalet Flex Software Engineer will manage integral pieces of that process.

The Senior Dalet Flex Software Engineer will work closely with other developers, environment team members, and front-end client development teams. In addition to writing code and unit tests, they will perform peer code reviews, engage with QA team, actively participate in technical design sessions and documentation, and technical support for production issues and business operations. Successful applicants will have a strong desire to expand or gain knowledge on how video production services operate.

The Senior Dalet Flex Software Engineer will join a multi-disciplinary team of technologists, creatives and business users who are dedicated to utilizing the right technologies for a large-scale, consumer-facing system.

Responsibilities
• Contribute to the design and development of video delivery systems, to include Digital Asset Management (DAMs), Post-production systems, Ordering and Scheduling Management systems with Dalet Flex DAM system.

• Complete assigned task in a sprint or pickup new ones in effort to deliver committed user stories in a sprint and provide status updates.

• Adhere to patters, best practices, and latest code syntaxes.

• Integrate commercial software into existing environments, applications, and processes

• Participate in architectural, engineering, and technical discussions.

• Actively participate in Daily scrum, sprint planning and grooming meetings.

• Collaborate well with team members and broader teams, including the leadership team, quality assurance professionals, designers, business analysts and other software engineers in an open, creative environment.

Qualifications and Skills
• BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• 3-5 years of professional development experience with Dalet Flex System.

• Knowledge and hands-on work experience on the backend Dalet (Ooyala) Flex Media system.

• Knowledge on defining and configuring User Defined Object (UDO) and Metadata models.

• Working experience with Flex Events handles and custom scripting using Groovy and JEF script used within the Dalet Flex application.

• Working experience with create/update Dalet Flex workflow to define and build our asset/material ingest process.

• Be responsible for the Flex code repository (GIT) check-in and migration/deployment to environments.

• Knowledge of Transcode technologies and working experience with Cloud AmberFin Transcoder.

• Build and setup custom profiles.

• Build and submit transcode request from Dalet Flex

• Troubleshooting transcode issues.

• 5+ years of professional Software development experience – coding, unit test writing, testing, OOD/OOP, and developing solutions per direction and requirements.

• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with Web, client-server, microservices, and distributed application development.

Nice to Haves
• Experience with Cloud Services (AWS preferred)

• Knowledge of video post-production and processing workflows

• Ability to clearly communicate designs/approach to other developers and management

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

• Experience with event and message-oriented architecture.

• Experience with SQL Server.
