Summary of Position

The Senior Database Test Engineer is responsible for establishing and extending defined data quality checks. This role will analyze, maintain and implement testing methods and procedures necessary for a variety of data systems, including a wide range of data analysis and holistic testing of many complex data models.

Responsibilities
• Responsible for testing multiple projects at one time, in various different stages of the projects in a fast-paced environment.

• Write SQL scripts to validate data accuracy and consistency for Data Warehouse load processes.

• Perform data analysis, testing and validation using SQL queries and data-driven testing methodologies to create reusable tests that leverage source to target validation.

• Ensure integration of data from disparate source systems has integrity and accuracy for reporting.

• Validate data accuracy and data-flow consistency through multiple layers of a complex integrated system.

• Work closely with the Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence teams to test data load processes.

• Using Scrum, Kanban and other Agile/Lean methodologies to communicate with different teams & projects.

• Use customer data & feeds to perform root cause analysis accurately reporting on results.

• Run and validate current scripts provided by the Data Warehouse team and modify, expand and improve necessary test scripts for reuse and automation purposes.

• Enter and query defects in defect tracking database and generate test cases providing meaningful acceptance criteria in tracking database as necessary.

• Performs other duties as required to ensure that the integration of data from disparate systems meets requirements and quality standards.

• Write and automate functional test cases.

• Work independently and play a liaison role between QA, Development & DBA teams.

• Consult with management to provide information regarding software readiness/jeopardy items.

Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Business or Technical field or similar discipline; Minimum ten years of software/Quality Assurance testing experience.

• Extensive experience writing SQL Verification scripts against complex ERD's as well as testing SQL Objects. Including tables, views, schema changes, ETL Scripts, Ad Hoc SQL statements, and Stored Procedures for data accuracy and consistency through multiple layers of an application.

• Extensive experience with functional automation tools (Selenium, Ranorex).

• Deep understanding of Relational Databases; Highly efficient knowledge of SQL.

• High level understanding of enterprise software and Service Oriented Architecture, .NET & Java technologies.

• A good understanding of Master Data Management and Data Warehouse.

• Knowledge of schema changes, store procedure and database reporting.

• Extensive experience with UI/DB compatibility testing, data transaction and load test.

• Understanding of Agile development environments, specifically Scrum and Kanban.

• Extensive experience with database querying tools, ie. RapidSQL, SQL Server Management Studio.

• Strong communication and problem solving skills with the ability to work as a team.

• Extremely detail oriented with strong analytic and organizational skills with the ability to address time sensitive demands on a continuous basis.

• Background with Cognos BI, Tableau, SSRS or similar data reporting tools is a plus.

• Experience with Cloud technologies a plus (Amazon, Google, Microsoft).

• Media and Entertainment experience preferred.

• JIRA and Confluence experience preferred.

Compensation

$106,400 - $129,300
