Summary of Position

The Master Control Operator is responsible for monitoring playout for Starz' linear networks. The role is essential in maintaining 99.999% on-air reliability standards. The Master Control Operator accurately and effectively reacts to video and audio signal issues, recognizes deviation from accepted practices, and alerts senior technical staff.

Responsibilities
• Monitor up to forty plus program play out feeds.
• Monitor all audio channels, including secondary audio programming, descriptive audio programming, and Dolby surround sound.
• Maintain playlists within the automation system and validate accuracy.
• Ability to check all shift timelines to ensure all media needed is present and accurate.
• Ability to timeout and adjust all program playlists provided by the Program Scheduling Department.
• Verify playout of all secondary events throughout the shift including channel Icons, interstitial/credit bars, promotion-over-credits, etc.
• Prepare all scheduled programming for air.
• Provide shift supervisor with necessary technical information to troubleshoot any on-air problems.
• Resolve on-air discrepancies through electronic data and verbal communication.
• Coordinate shift responsibilities with Master Control Supervisor.
• Provide quick response and resolutions for any on-air problems.
• Ability to work in a 24/7/365 environment, understanding that employees may be required to work alternate shifts as needed.

Qualifications & Skills
• Three years master control experience or several years related experience and/or training required.
• An Associate's degree in Communications or equivalent preferred.
• Hands on experience with video server technology including extensive experience with computer hardware running a variety of operating systems and software applications.
• Hands on experience with ITX and Evertz playout systems preferred.
• Broadcast automation system operation and effective problem resolution skills.
• Ability to adjust program playlists provided by the Program Scheduling Department.
• Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
• Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve everyday issues.
• Ability to exercise initiative, problem solving and decision making skills and software applications.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects.
• Strong organizational skills, proficiency in establishing priorities.
• Ability to work in conjunction with the Company managers and employees.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organizations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Compensation

$42,300 – $63,400
