Summary of Position

The QAA Manager supports our Authentication/Authorization/Billing/Subscriber services, which are critical, revenue driving services for our OTT platforms. The primary function of the QAA Manager is to successfully manage a team of automation and manual QA engineers.

The selected candidate MUST have experience managing QA that tested different backend systems/platforms together, with the ability to define the associated testing requirements for integrations within our own team, and making sure those work for the customer facing application development teams who will consume those services.

The position requires Systems Integration/Analysis & Cross-Platform/Application knowledge, as well as an understanding of the organization's systems and capabilities.

Successful applicants will be familiar with websites, apps, and console platforms, third party billing integrations/platforms and OTT subscriber data sets.

Responsibilities
• Define, implement and drive the QA and automation strategy for STARZ backend services (Subscriber, Authentication, Billing system).

• Manage a group of QA Engineers (Manual and Automation) ensuring the delivery of high-quality software (mainly REST API services & AWS Lambdas). The QAA Manager will also have testing responsibilities, including development/execution of manual REST API and end-to-end testing, on highly scalable back-end systems (predominantly using Postman, but also custom tools and occasionally mobile devices).

• Provide time estimates, technical recommendations, and proposed test solutions based on technical and business requirements

• Oversee and direct the development of new test frameworks and applications to ensure the implementation of manual and automated test solutions

• Apply testing methodologies, principles, and processes to define and implement key metrics to manage the testing process, including test execution and defect resolution to ensure robust test coverage

• Responsible for tactical aspects of testing as well as accountable for planning and strategy

• Routinely review QA team test cases making sure they adhere to defined test case standards and best practices

• Continuously identify product and process opportunities and proactively drive them to fruition

• Work closely with the Director of Digital Platforms and other stakeholders to understand the project goals and requirements/user stories

• Work with the development team to ensure consistent delivery of high quality REST API services using Postman, in-house developed websites and mobile applications

• Participate in technical design reviews to ensure user requirements are met by QA tests

• Perform ad hoc and exploratory testing beyond pre-existing test cases and User Stories

Qualifications and Skills
• 3+ years of experience as manager, in hiring and mentoring QA and automation engineers ; great team player with ability to motivate and drive individuals

• 5+ years manual QA experience with testing backend services and/or multitier applications

• Hands on experience with automating REST APIs using Postman, curl or custom tools

• Hands on working knowledge of connecting to SQL databases and performing select statements

• Extremely detail oriented with strong organizational skills (excellent written and verbal communication skills) with the ability to address time sensitive demands on a continuous basis (ability to context switch)

• Experience with the following languages: JavaScript, Gherkin

• Knowledge of industry best practices for manual, automation and load testing

• Experience with deployments and CI/CD practices.

• Experience gathering, refining, and validating business/technical requirements, interdependencies, cross-functional dependencies & risks/issues.

• Strong interpersonal, collaboration and consultative skills.

• Strong attention to detail and committed to a high level of accuracy & quality.

Nice to Haves
• Experience with designing and delivering load testing solutions for highly scalable systems; experience with K6, JMeter or any other load testing tool

• Experience with a cloud computing environment (AWS, Google Cloud or Azure)

• Experience with non-relational databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra)

• Experience with AWS Lambdas and SQS or their Azure equivalent (functions and queues).

• Experience with mobile (iOS, Android), web, TV and console technologies (Xbox, PS4)

$109,000 – $172,400
