Job Description
We are currently looking for candidates to participate in our Spotify New York City Technology Fellowship Program -- a development program aimed at hiring engineers just entering the professional tech environment from a diverse set of backgrounds. Throughout the 19 week program participants in the Fellowship will operate as a team and eventually embed on a squad within Spotify while receiving mentoring, personal & professional development from a broad set of employees to help them reach their full potential and learn what it's like to work at Spotify.

What You'll Do:
• Collaborate with other engineers, tech leads, product owners, engineer managers, and other disciplines to solve interesting and challenging problems and develop in Spotify's ecosystem.
• Be a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile team.
• Develop your software engineering, and interpersonal business skills through mentors, your cohort, fellowship community, projects, and the embed phase.
• Architect, design, develop, deploy and connect a variety of services such as backends, frontends and pipelines.
• Be a member of the Spotify-wide developer community affecting and driving our architecture across the company.
• Work closely with members of your team, collaborating on projects and exchanging ideas to ensure the software development process is executed with precision and attention to detail.
• Work from our beautiful and vibrant office located in FIDI, New York City where we solve problems in Monetization, Music Recommendations, Features for Artists, Social Networking and more.
Discipline specific descriptions:
Backend: Backend engineers at Spotify use technologies such as Java, Apollo, MySQL, and Bigtable to build backend systems powering our app, internal tools, and partner integrations.
Frontend: Frontend engineers at Spotify primarily use Javascript, along with frameworks such as React, Node, TypeScript to build web pages powering our app, internal tools, and partner integrations.
Data: Data engineers at Spotify use technologies such as Scala, Scio, BigQuery and BigTable to build data pipelines powering our app, internal tools and partner integrations.
Who You Are:
• You have practical language experience with one or more of the following languages: Javascript, Java, Python, C, C++,, C#, Ruby
• You are either self-taught or a bootcamp or community school graduate looking to start your career in tech.
• You can solve a programming problem and debug it
• You demonstrate critical thinking skills
• You have a passion for tech, audio, Spotify, or some intersection of those.
• You have the ability to explain a complex problem, concept, or past challenge in a clear and concise way
• You have good communication skills
Nice To Have:
• Demonstrated experience working on group projects (does not have to be a technical project)
• A basic understanding of data structures and when to use them (hashmap, set, vector, linked list, trees)
• Some knowledge of algorithmsReal world experience
• Leadership abilities

$70,000 - $90,000 a year
The United States base range for this position is $70,000-$90,000. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, monthly meal allowance, 23 annual paid days off, 13 annual paid flexible holidays. These ranges may be modified in the future.
