Who are we hiring?
The TV Technician will keep our sports and entertainment television and internet production and post-production systems operating at optimum conditions . The TV Technician will primarily provide live-event support at Madison Square Garden, but will also be required to perform preventive and corrective maintenance and provide user support for all ENG/EFP, production and post-production systems used to acquire and produce content for MSG Networks linear channels and digital platforms in a fast paced, live environment.
What will you do?
• Serve as the first line of defense for troubleshooting when issues are reported.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for all studio production, RAPS/REMI game support, editing, and centralized video ingest/playback systems, escalating to engineering management when additional support is required.
• Support live events at Madison Square Garden facilitating and troubleshooting all interconnects between mobile production units, Arena, MSGN's production and post-production facilities, and transmission providers
• Expected to provide thorough reporting of all actions taken and observations made during daily responsibilities.
• Responsible for preventive maintenance and completing daily walkthroughs.
• Support project work as assigned, including terminations, cabling, labeling, blue-lining, testing, moving equipment, installing equipment and racks, and other tasks as needed.
• Assist with workspace and storage upkeep, including regular cleanup, organization, garbage disposal, and support for special projects as assigned.
What do you need to s/ucceed?
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
• 5+ Years of proven success as a television technical maintenance engineer supporting live production and mission critical systems or equivalent experience .
• Must be a strong team player with the ability to transition seamlessly between leading and contributing, depending on the needs of each task, project, or assignment, including collaboration with external contractors and vendors.
• Must be highly detail-oriented with the ability to quickly assess problems, identify both short-term and long-term solutions, and drive issues through to full resolution.
• Must demonstrate strong troubleshooting and configuration skills for network-based systems, including but not limited to switching and routing infrastructure, data storage systems, servers, and workstations (Windows, macOS, and Linux), with specific experience operating in a live production environment.
• Experience with system-level diagnosis and repair of (but not limited to) ENG/EFP cameras, video production switchers, audio mixing consoles, intercom systems, multi-rate routing systems, and server-based technologies.
• Experience supporting Extended Reality and Mixed Reality production environments.
• Expected to exhibit functional knowledge of electronic and television-specific test equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and updating AutoCAD or engineering drawings.
• Significant system installation and project experience.
• Membership in SMPTE, IEEE , SBE is a plus.
• Industry specific developmental certifications ( i.e. CCNA, CompTIA, CBT, Dante or similar) are a plus.
Special requirements
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shifts as part of a rotating schedule
