Who are we hiring?
MSG Sphere is looking for a senior pipeline engineer to join our groundbreaking post-production department based in Los Angeles. This role is a senior-level software developer working under the Core Pipeline Director of Production Support to support a growing and diversifying set of ground-breaking productions by developing and maintaining tools to automate and optimize the production workflow from capture to playback.
Candidates must demonstrate a track record of developing software that is stable, well documented, easy to use, effective, efficient, and easy to maintain. MSG Sphere requires innovators who are used to problem solving in collaboration with peers, end users, and stakeholders, and flexible in modifying the solutions they build based on feedback. Sphere venues demand an extreme level of integration between disciplines, which requires a balanced, creative, agile approach to be successful; being able to prioritize, communicate, and see the bigger picture are required skills.
What will you do?
• Design, develop, and maintain Core Pipeline's software tools.
• Support a variety of artist workflows: I/O, Editorial, VFX, Color, Sound, QC, Review, Mastering, and Delivery.
• Support a variety of production types: Exo Sphere advertisements, theatrical features, live events, real-time, etc.
• Directly collaborate with end users and stakeholders to determine scalable solutions to address problems effectively from proof-of-concept to deployment.
• Adhere to industry-standard conventions for coding and documentation.
• Identify potential optimizations or newer solutions to existing pipeline tools.
What do you need to succeed?
• Minimum of five years writing pipeline tools for a VFX, post, or animation facility.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices: efficient algorithms and data structures, design patterns, testing, debugging, version management in Git.
• Strong development experience with Python is essential.
• Strong experience in all major OS's: Windows, Linux, MacOS.
• Strong experience with Flow Production Tracking (formerly ShotGrid) app and Toolkit.
• Familiarity with creating pipeline integrations for Nuke, Houdini, After Effects, Maya, Resolve, etc.
• Experience implementing graphical user interfaces with PyQt.
• Experience with ASWF's Rez package manager a plus.
• Experience with Deadline (or similar render manager) a plus.
• Experience with AWS and Google Cloud Platform a plus.
• Experience with C++ development and deployment a plus.
• Detail oriented with excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take criticism, and work under high pressure with tight deadlines.
• Good problem solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
• Ability to collaborate with team members across different disciplines including directly interfacing with stakeholders to understand requirements.
Pay Range
$147,000 - $190,000 USD
