Job Description
Who are we hiring?
The Senior Manager Health Safety & Environment (HSE) works in conjunction with the VP of Threat Management in the development, coordination and implementation of workplace health, safety and environmental policies and programs at the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas and the Sphere Studio Offices in Burbank, CA. This role develops and implements site-specific accident and injury reduction programs. The Manager also conducts regular facility inspections to proactively identify workplace hazards, ensure OSHA compliance, fire protection/property conservation measures, and specific proactive safety practices. In addition, the Senior Manager works on all safety-related activities associated with significant construction/renovation and/or capital project work, including general site safety, life safety issues, fire protection and hazardous materials. The Senior Manager identifies medical needs for Events and schedules said Medical Team for all Events including Load In/Load Out activities as well as any other medical coverage needs. The Senior Manager supports the identification of any and all city/state/federal safety and environmental requirements specific to the various venues' operations and ensures all administrative functions are executed in a timely manner.
What will you do?
• Develops, implements, and manages policies, procedures, guidelines, and training to ensure activities are conducted safely and in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and guidelines (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, state and local).
• Conducts routine in-house inspections and oversees and manages all required facility inspections, program audits, and other environmental health and safety related inspections by regulatory agencies. Reports safety issues to facility maintenance, operations, construction personnel, contacts vendors as necessary.
• Provides technical guidance to MSG and Sphere Operations on all safety-related activities including construction/renovation and/or capital project work, including inspecting & reporting, general site safety conditions, life safety issues, fire protection, environmental issues and hazardous materials.
• Conducts accident investigations to determine root causes and ensures proper corrective measures are taken. Inputs investigation data to generate trend reports. Maintains employee incident tracking spreadsheet and analysis of causation with emphasis on reducing future similar incidents around the Sphere.
• Oversees OSHA accident and injury recordkeeping functions and generates/distributes reports in accordance with applicable OSHA standards. Solely responsible for OSHA 300 Log and agency submittal in February of each year.
• Manages administrative tasks such as distribution of reports; processing regulatory documents, inspections and maintenance records; and handling accounts payable requests, all safety-related filings, and all motor vehicle fleet safety functions.
• Conducts and assists Sphere facility management in emergency preparedness, response and evacuation plan updates, and collaborates with New York based People and Org Development team on annual Drills/Training.
• Monitors Worker's Compensation, General Liability and Auto claims. Acts as liaison to insurance carriers (adjusters/disability case managers/nurses), local management, Risk Management, People Practices/Benefits, injured employees and medical providers. Manages relationship with Worker's Compensation Claims Adjusters with a regular touch-base with local agents.
• Responds in a timely fashion to all violation notices and inquiries from regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, FD, environmental control board, licensing and permitting offices), including production of documents.
• Conducts specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for all job descriptions and specifies necessary personal protective equipment and/or engineering control measures.
• Schedules and directly supervises third party medical coverage vendor for event coverage along with Production scheduling and coordination including artist's coverage.
• Facilitate organization and inventory of multiple First Aid Rooms as well as first Aid cabinets and AED devices throughout venue, including multiple rented office spaces locally.
• Perform all other duties as directed to support the Threat Management Division
What do you need to s/ucceed?
Required:
• Eight (8) plus years work experience managing an environmental, health and safety program.
• Possession of General Industry/Entertainment 30-hour OSHA certification (as required in Nevada).
• Proficient in Windows-based computer software applications and communications packages.
• Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills
• Ability to work with minimal direct supervision in a highly confidential and quick-paced environment.
• Ability to establish collaborative relationships with internal & external contacts to complete initiatives.
Preferred:
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in related industries such as occupational safety, environmental science, risk management, industrial hygiene, chemistry, or engineering.
• Experience in entertainment safety or industrial/manufacturing safety field.
• Relevant professional certification(s) is safety field (e.g., CIH, CSP CHMM)
• Certification to provide OSHA 10 and 30 Gen Industry training.
Special Requirements
• The position will be based out of Las Vegas, but will require routine travel/site visits to Burbank, CA. This role will require at least 20% travel.
• Significant walking may be required. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Work locations may include (but are not limited to) office settings, construction sites, roof tops, entertainment venues, machine rooms, warehouses, etc.
• May need to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including (but not limited to) a respirator, safety glasses, hard hat, protective gloves, safety shoes, etc.

Pay Range
$96,000 - $165,000 USD
