Job Description
As a Director, A&R, you will be responsible for initiating and implementing a consistent A&R strategy for discovering new artists who have the potential to be commercially successful in the contemporary Christian music (CCM), worship music and general faith-based musical genres. Key components of new signings include commercial appeal to the core CCM and/or worship consumer, as well as an intentionality to create music that serves faith based genres. The person in this role will actively seek and identify commercially viable songs for new and current signed artists, oversee the ongoing development and content creation of all assigned artists, as well as act as the lead label contact for all assigned artists, providing ''vision'', direction and input to the label marketing team as needed.

What you'll do:
• Identify potential new talent, concepts and projects using every available resource including social media platform
• Develop and coordinate the signing of new talent to Provident Entertainment
• Source potential talent through online research, social media platforms, industry relationships, artist websites and social media
• Attend live performances at showcases, concerts, churches and other venues both locally and on the road
• Act as liaison between assigned artists / new acts and label, advising on their sound and brand
• Work closely with other label departments/employees including marketing, promotions, finance, media, and sales to determine follow up steps working toward commercial success of recorded material
• Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with assigned artists and managers
• Serve the A&R team by actively compiling, tracking, and analyzing data on unsigned artists who are on the team ''Watch List''
• Provide feedback and lead discussion on the social media, YouTube, TikTok and DSP streaming data in weekly A&R team meeting
• Oversee the recording process, providing creative input and direction, including the following:
• Help artist find the most suitable producer(s) and recording studio as needed
• Schedule recording sessions. Coordinate pre-production and production, mixing, mastering, and sequencing
• Evaluate recording and mixing progress for each project
• Plan recording budgets for assigned projects, keeping within agreed budget and schedule/timeline
• Proactively seek and find songs and songwriters
• Ensure timely delivery of finished masters
• Advise the artist on all aspects of a high-quality recording
• Offer feedback and input into all aspects of assigned artists live performance/show (ie song choices, audio mix, stage presence, band members, communication, etc.)
• Develop a network of resources including songwriters, producers, engineers, managers, booking agents, attorneys, concert promoters, trade and consumer press, and tastemakers
• Regularly update and educate label staff on A&R activities
• Represent the label as needed at various industry functions, artist showcases, public performances, conferences, presentations or corporate meetings

Who you are:
• Strong knowledge of industry wide CCM/worship and faith-based musical genres, typically gained from at least 7 years of music industry experience working directly with artists, such as A&R, management, digital marketing, music production, publishing or with a church/worship ministry
• Ability to identify GREAT talent; to separate/identify the commercially viable from the pack; a prior track record of finding and signing recording artists and/or songs for recorded projects is a plus
• Strong desire to support music and platforms of Christian music artists and/or worship brands
• Knowledge of CCM/worship consumer and an understanding of the current tastes and trends of the genre
• Prior experience with all phases of the process of creating recorded music from start to finish
• Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)
• Strong problem solving, social, and interpersonal skills; exceptional communication and time management skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task; able to work independently and as a part of a team
• Strong relationships with established songwriters, worship leaders, churches, producers, attorneys, managers, and publishers and ability to create and maintain new relationships
• Willingness to represent Provident Entertainment at industry wide events as needed
• Available to travel and attend evening and weekend worship services, concerts, and showcases
• Working knowledge of the digital music space and all social media platforms
