Job Description

As a an Art Director you will be responsible for designing creative concepts while creating appropriate brand / band extensions. You will collaborate directly with the head of creative, design team members and other departments in executing and ideating concepts for each artist assigned. Your designs will extend into solutions for packaging, merchandise, web, mobile, animation and interactive projects throughout the artist campaign. You will help assist at various degrees throughout the production and implementation of the design process to make sure your creative remains consistent. Able to work independently and on a team, you must be self-directed, driven, and capable of managing competing priorities under tight timelines. You will demonstrate leadership qualities and mentor by example, while creating great relationships within a bi-coastal team.

What you'll do:
• Creating branding and artwork for a new or developed artist or group including directing photoshoots, designing covers and packaging
• Work with producers to find the right creatives for photoshoots and content creation
• Mentor younger designers to improve their design and professional practices
• Collaborate and guide designers in improving concepts, quality and emotional impact of all creative outputs
• Collaborate closely with all members of the team in developing the best possible creative throughout an artist campaign
• Work closely with label departments and clients to manage expectations, meet deliverable schedules, and rigorously pursue creative excellence

Who you are:
• Master in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Knowledge in other Adobe CC programs including After Effects a huge plus.
• At least 3 years' experience working in design with or within an entertainment setting, music industry a huge plus.
• Knowledge in photography, illustration, and/or any other mixed mediums
• Strong understanding of typography and type setting
• Knowledge of print design and packaging, or willing to learn the ins and outs of physical deliverables
• A proven track record of working across disciplines to manage projects
• Self-directed, driven, and capable of managing competing priorities under tight timelines
• Interest in new design trends and methods apply to new created and improve workflow
• Ability to hit on different aesthetics for a wide variety of artists from acapella to drill rap
• Ability to work with a wide range of personalities
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting both in-person and virtual
• Ability to work in both east and west coast time zones
• A love for music, fashion and pop culture, primarily in the hip hop / rap / and r&b space
• Have a wide network of creatives
• A positive attitude and a great team player
• Based in the Los Angeles area or planning to live there in the near future
• Degree in design not mandatory but a plus
