Job Description

Responsibilities

The Broadcast Operations Manager position is a hybrid role, serving as the primary liaison between SNY and its master control partner located off-site at NBCU Broadcast Operations in Englewood Cliffs NJ as well as responsible for the on-site supervision of studio technical crews in a fast-paced control room environment.

A successful candidate will possess strong managerial skills, be capable of taking a leadership position over the operations area, exhibit a high degree of professionalism, and express superlative communication skills to build and maintain working relationships with internal teams and stakeholders. Reports to the SVP of Operations and Studio Partnerships.

Qualifications

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
• Work closely with NBCU Broadcast Operations on the day-to-day transmission of SNY's on-air product and related workflows connected with all live and taped programming.
• Co-host and document bi-weekly SNY/NBCU Broadcast Operations call with all involved departments including Master Control, Programming, Traffic, Production, and Graphics.
• Partner with SNY Programming and Traffic departments to schedule and coordinate third party-produced programming. Log sources, remote transmission methods, show timing contingencies, AD coordination circuits, etc., while entering all corresponding information into programming database and creating weekly source reports.
• Schedule Mets and UConn game feeds with common transmission carriers such as the Switch, LTN, VyVx, etc. Includes feeds and routing between SNY and PIX11 for syndicated Mets games.
• Support studio operations from live control room by acting as quality control / manager for check-in of incoming remote feeds, including but not limited to routing, video processing, aspect ratio conversion / verification, audio, and remote communications.
• In conjunction with Director Studio Operations, manage staff and freelance broadcast crew personnel.
• Perform other related duties as required and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• BA/BS degree in related field or equivalent experience required.
• Must have extensive professional experience in broadcast / cable technical production management roles to ensure a consistent high level of technical quality across all productions in both remote and live studio environments.
• Proven ability to interact with all areas of production and senior management to maximize resources and ensure a quality and seamless production.
• Familiarity with Evertz routers, Grass Valley production switchers, SSL audio, iNews, Avid Interplay, RTS Intercom, Ross Overdrive automation, and AutoScript prompter systems a plus.
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft Office programs.
• Effective planning and priority setting skills. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
• Job requires varied shifts including but not limited to nights, weekends, and some holidays.

In accordance with applicable NYC law, the estimated base salary range for this role is $90,000 - $125,000 commensurate with experience. This position is bonus eligible.
