We're looking for an Executive Producer to join our experienced team of network executives to help oversee the editorial direction and production of selected series and specials. Reporting to the Vice President, Content and Programming, s/he/they will take a leading role in the development and oversight of new productions, ranging from show idea development, and providing creative direction and logistical support, through post-production and delivery.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Generating new ideas for internal development; includes researching, writing proposals, designing pitch decks; taking pitches to greenlight, and identifying suitable 3rd-party production companies to solicit bids
• Assisting Development Dept in reviewing and assessing external pitches
• Working with Production Dept to ensure budgets, schedules and creative are closely aligned
• Providing editorial direction and supervision of 3rd party SMITH productions, to include scripting, edit reviews, talent, music, graphics, and all aspects of final finishing, ensuring productions remain on course and meet network expectations
• Attend and supervise shoots and final finishing sessions when necessary
• Working across MTV Entertainment Studios departments such as Digital, Marketing, Talent, Legal, and Communications teams to support network programming
• Building and maintaining relationships with the Smithsonian Institution's museums and research units, exploring avenues for creative engagement and the development of programming that highlights the work of the institution
• Attending industry markets and festivals as needed

Basic Qualifications:
• 10 years' experience in long form non-fiction format television production. Should have produced quality, ratings winning programming for national broadcast or a streaming service

Additional Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
• Thorough knowledge of television production process, from development through post-production
• Strong editorial and storytelling skills
• Extensive experience in field production and directing
• Extensive experience as creative lead taking projects through edit
• Excellent writing skills and story-development experience
• Knowledge of post-production process
• Overall knowledge of program budgets and production costs
• Knowledge of industry standards for rights and clearances
• Familiarity with television landscape across linear channels, streaming and digital platforms
• A track record of team-building and relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders
• Willingness and ability to travel to internal meetings, to shoots, to festivals/markets) as needed
• Passion for Factual/Unscripted/Documentary content
