Staff Accountant - Fixed Assets

Job Description

Sinclair Broadcast Group's Corporate Accounting Department is seeking a staff accountant, focusing on Fixed Assets.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Daily administration of fixed assets, including gaining a thorough understanding of the company's fixed asset software systems
• Prepare monthly journal entries, including but not limited to, asset additions and retirements, sales, depreciation, amortization, and adjustment and reclass entries as necessary.
• Work closely with the other members of Capital/Fixed asset team to become familiar with capital projects, expenditures, and estimated completion date.
• Prepare the annual budget and quarterly forecasts for depreciation and amortization.
• Reconcile the fixed asset sub-ledgers to the general ledger monthly.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain effective communication with station personnel by responding to requests in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the Corporate Tax department to provide the necessary transactional information to maintain the fixed asset Tax books.
• Respond to audit requests in a timely manner, providing accurate and appropriate supporting schedules and work papers.
• Complete ad-hoc projects to support the Corporate Accounting team as necessary.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (1-2 years of accounting experience in a Corporate setting or public accounting is ideal)
• Working knowledge of the general ledger, financial statements, budgets and forecasts, and internal controls
• Strong aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, professional environment
• Desire and ability to work in a team environment and communicate well with others.
• Possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong Excel skills required; Oracle or BNA experience is a plus.
