Job Description
Sinclair Broadcast Group seeks a motivated and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to be a leader in the adoption of DevOps practices across the Sinclair Technology Partners team. The individual will design platform automation, develop workflows and pipelines supporting corporate wide Site Reliability Engineering domains, participate in guiding the business towards industry best practices, and support key enterprise infrastructure solutions.  This position is fully remote.

Responsibilities (Technical): 
• Provide enterprise-wide DevOps and platform leadership for diverse infrastructure spanning bare metal, both on/off-prem cloud-based systems, storage infrastructure, and software-defined infrastructure environments 
• Focus on automation through code, CI/CD pipelines, Ansible, Terraform, and related methodologies to speed up deployments, incident resolutions, and increase overall uptime across the enterprise environments 
• Demonstrate and mentor others in security best practices, evangelizing a DevSecOps mentality 
• Define and promote Gitflow best practices across corporate SRE domains 
• Usher in enterprise-wide compute lifecycle management, including automating scaled deployments of patching and updates along with requisite reporting 
• Participate in defining the implementation of system components including new hardware, software, storage, and networking subsystems throughout the enterprise 
• Development of enterprise management strategies and deployment of tools for baseline, trending, and alerting via tools like Grafana, Elastic Search (ELK Stack), and Nagios 
• Create and maintain environment documentation and operational runbooks that set standards for the rest of the team to utilize and emulate. 
• Troubleshoot escalated system issues, automating resolutions for recurring root causes 

Responsibilities (Non-Technical): 
• Set goals together as a team, supporting other team members to ensure team goals are achieved, and resolving conflicts and issues when needed 
• Decompose and track work through an Agile framework of epic, capability, feature, user story, and task levels 
• Lead small team technical efforts 
• Facilitate blameless postmortems and root cause analysis processes so that the team can learn from mistakes and improve our systems and runbooks 
• Mentor other Site Reliability Engineers in understanding and applying DevOps best practices   

Experience, Skills & Competencies: 
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management of Information Systems, or a related field 
• 10+ years of relevant systems analysis/support/SRE/Operations experience 
• 10+ years of relevant experience administering and supporting CentOS-based environments 
• 5+ years of relevant experience administering and supporting Windows-based environments 
• 7+ years of experience with source control management such as Git 
• 7+ years of experience automating IT processes through Ansible/Terraform/Python/Shell Scripting 
• Must have led or built something new at enterprise scale (more than 10 users) 
• Must have supported developers in a CI/CD environment 
• Working knowledge of Private Cloud Hypervisors to include VMware cloud stack technologies 
• Deep understanding of AWS cloud services and how to leverage them for compute, storage, and managed services (more than just ''EC2'') 
• Understanding Gitflow and CI/CD's intersection with pipeline integrations via Jenkins or Team Foundation Server (Azure DevOps) 
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools specifically Azure DevOps 
• Experience with Ansible and its use to deploy software, patching, system-level configuration, network configuration, and reporting configuration 
• Experience with Terraform utilizing the framework as a part of a larger automation process to spin up new instances across multiple clouds 
• Experience with stand-alone, converged and hyperconverged infrastructure related to VMware technologies 
• Experience with Public Cloud providers (AWS, GCP, and Azure) to include design, support, reporting, monitoring, billing  
• Able to troubleshoot issues across the entire stack from UI – > API – > Application – > Database, including the operating system and the underlying (virtual) hardware 
• Comfortable operating in environments subject to regulatory, compliance, and risk-based security requirements 
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills both within the existing experience and the ability to adapt to new situations and problems that are unfamiliar to existing experience 
• Enthusiastic about cutting-edge technologies and fresh challenges that come with them 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on proactive customer relationship building 
• A professional business demeanor and presentation 
• Customer-focused attitude and desire to interface directly with end-user clients   

Ideal Qualifications: 
• A strong cross section of most of the Experience, Skills, & Competencies 
• Proficient as a developer, experienced at solving problems in more than one language 
• Experienced maintaining and supporting feature-rich applications using modern software frameworks 
• Understanding of computer networking and how it applies in cloud environments 
• Related technical experience in cybersecurity, preferably in a cloud environment 
• Experience securing corporate networks, cloud networks, and VPNs 
• Extensive documentation experience with strong opinions on how knowledge should be maintained and transferred to many types of engineers 
• Vision and ideas into building Network/System Operations Centers
