Principal Systems Engineer (Remote)

Sinclair Broadcast Group seeks a motivated and experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join the Corporate Information Technology Department. The individual will develop, integrate and support key Enterprise infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities:
• Lead Systems Engineering projects and provide required technical expertise to diverse stakeholder groups based on business requirements
• Design, Implement, and document test plans for systems based on requirements and specifications provided by internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with other teams and third-party vendors to define best-in-class solutions
• Configuration, management, and maintenance of Windows, Linux, and Storage systems – including physical and virtual servers, HPE Nimble NetApp, and Dell/EMC
• Support and participate in the development of architecture designs for enterprise-wide systems infrastructure environments
• Participate in or lead internal and external design reviews and status meetings
• Proactively monitor KPIs and address areas of improvement for systems infrastructure
• Drive efficiencies through process automation and Infrastructure as Code frameworks
• Mentor, train, and provide guidance to all other systems team members
• Provide weekly status reports for open projects for Executive teams

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding and required length of experience in at least 2 of the areas below:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or a related field or equivalent work experience
• Immediate authorization to work in the US
• 10+ years relevant systems analysis/support experience in an organization of 3000+ employees
• 10+ years of experience directly administering and supporting Microsoft Window Server
• 10+ years of experience directly administering and supporting Linux operating systems
• 10+ years of experience with scripting and automation – PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Python, JSON, Jenkins, etc.
• Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, MFA, Group Policy, NTFS and DFS
• Advanced knowledge of networking protocols TCP/IP, VoIP, DNS and DHCP
• 10+ years of experience with both iSCSI and Fiber Channel Storage Area Networks
• Understanding of industry best practices surrounding proper maintenance and support of a 24x7 server infrastructure
• 7+ years of production experience with ESXi 6.x or higher to include VMware vCenter, vRealize, supporting multiple operating systems and applications to include SQL server, Windows server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• 10+ years of production experience with VMware enterprise features (DRS, HA, vMotion, SRM, Update Manager)
• Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting practices at OS and network layers of the stack
• Experience with server hardening practices both Windows and Linux
• 7+ years of experience with Microsoft Exchange – On-premises and Online
• 7+ years of experience directly administering Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop
• 4+ years of production experience with VMware vSAN
• 4+ years of production experience with VMware Cloud Foundation
• 3+ years of production experience with network virtualization with VMware NSX
• 5+ years of public cloud deployment and management experience, Azure, AWS, GCP
• Experience with security/vulnerability patching of VMware/vSphere hosts and Virtual machines, including deployment and process documentation
• Proficient in VMware performance, capacity planning, monitoring, virtualization analysis, and consolidation activities
• Experience with storage configuration and management: HPE Nimble Storage, NetApp, EMC Isilon
• Physical capability to install/de-install server equipment in a data center environment
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership skills including the ability to lead small teams of engineers
• Ability to quickly grasp technical issues and offer solutions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills - including the ability to create technical documentation and strong presentation skills
• Ability to work with third-party technical teams to drive outcomes
• Excellent time management skills
• Outgoing and enthusiastic personality with a customer service oriented mindset
• Professional business demeanor
• Customer-focused attitude and desire to interface directly with end-user clients
• MCSE or RHCE required
• Cloud (AWS or GCP) Certification required
• VCP a plus
