Lead Solution Architect

Job Description

Sinclair is seeking a dynamic, motivated leader to work effectively and cross-functionally to solve a wide range of business problems and collaborate with our partner team to implement new business models enabled by ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) 3.0 technology as the Solution Architect, Data Distributions as a Service (DDaaS), part of our Next Generation Wireless Platform. This role requires a leader who can maintain a balanced focus between technology and strategy. You will be responsible for guiding the development and implementation of business, strategic and technical elements of new data-distribution business models including Data Distribution as a Service, Spectrum Sharing as a Service, enhanced GPS, IOT, automotive solutions, and more. The Solution Architect will coordinate the development of end-to-end systems capabilities including customer/partner/admin portals, cloud-based data orchestration, hybrid data delivery models (ATSC 3.0 and Internet Data Services), billing systems, information/network security and data analytics.

The Solution Architect must be adept in guiding teams in a multi-vendor environment by assessing Sinclair business requirements and working with external teams to develop strategic plans to fulfill those requirements. You will have the opportunity to guide business initiatives, provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership, and interface with a wide variety of business functions across the company. The Solution Architect will work alongside other Sinclair business development managers, IT (Information Technology), architects, engineers, and analysts as well as multiple vendor partners to develop an end-to-end Data Distributions as a Service commercial offering.

Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate ongoing activities between the business and other engineering disciplines
• Develop and evaluate potential business opportunities, including:
• Financial projections
• Revenue/Pricing model
• Likelihood of success/market fit
• Proper leveraging of existing assets
• Define a best-fit solution for near-term, mid-term and long-term business needs
• Supervise the process of selecting buy or build technology solutions
• Conduct independent research into new business opportunities
• Provide proof of concepts designed to test technology solutions and economic viability
• Develop and implement the business operations aspects of emerging data-distribution businesses
• Evaluate technology solutions for quality, scalability, cost-effectiveness and fit with business requirements
• Ensure technological risks and accounted for and solution meet necessary requirements
• Manage the process for strategic and roadmap planning, working with stakeholders from across the company to craft and refine the product's direction and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
• Translates technical design concepts to business needs and operations
• Provide perspective and thought leadership to senior management and stakeholders to communicate how systems support business capabilities from a position of functional fit, technical fit and risk.
• Manage relationships with key partners and vendors
• Represent the interests of Sinclair in negotiations with outside parties
• Maintain an overview of implementation costs and scheduling to help implement IT strategies
• Ensure the effectiveness and quality of installed applications by performing post-execution reviews

Requirements:
• 15+ years of pertinent experience - various backgrounds will be considered
• Commercial product development
• Cloud-based data orchestration systems
• Wireless networking technologies
• Broadcast air chain architecture and operations
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a high level of intellectual curiosity
• Ability to solve problems creatively
• Excellent communication skills with a demonstrable history of influencing organizations, working collaboratively, and building relationships with all levels of management
• Great interpersonal skills
• The ability to deliver high quality results under tight deadlines
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required; MBA preferred
