Director, On-Air Operations

Job Description

Recently, we strategically acquired 23 Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) and we are looking for team members to join us in integrating this new and important piece of our business that will expand our range of content across the country and extend our multi-platform expansion opportunities. We are looking for a strong leader to be responsible for overseeing the On-Air Operations Department for Sinclair's regional sports networks (RSNs). In this role, you will be expected to build the On-Air Operations team, lead key initiatives, and direct the team in order to ensure accuracy and efficiency of all On-Air operations.

Responsibilities:
Operations, Collaboration & Partnerships
• Oversee the RSN On-Air Operations department, with functions including:
• Broadcast operations including setting up, controlling and monitoring broadcast equipment to transmit programs and commercials to the viewing audience
• On-air switching, dubbing and transferring programs
• Gathering satellite feeds for broadcast use
• Preparing and operating equipment (before, during and after live events)
• Maintaining required logs and monitoring technical performance to uphold standards and maintain FCC compliance
• Coordinate with 3rd party counterpart to ensure process flow transitions from Sinclair to 3rd party as needed

Performance Improvement
• Evaluate, review and assess the success of initiatives, allocation of employees, and resources
• Review performance data that includes financial and activity reports and spreadsheets to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness

People Management & Development
• Build and develop high-performing, engaged teams as part of the next generation of digital and innovative entertainment
• Inspire a culture of continuous learning and adoption of digital and emerging technologies
• Champion a differentiated employee experience where people come to follow their passions and grow their career
• Coordinate multi-shift scheduling to ensure seamless handoffs, correct staffing, and quality 24/7

Qualifications:
• 12+ years of relevant industry work experience
• 8+ years management experience
• Minimum of 5 years managing an On-Air Operations department
• Experience with live sports integration required
• Experience managing 3rd party service provider relationships preferred
