Job Description
Sinclair has an opportunity for a motivated and energetic engineer with hands-on experience in dev ops and cloud engineering. We are searching for an individual to be a member of our team responsible for design and development of Sinclair's Data Distribution as a Service (DDaaS) platform. The candidate should be a great collaborator and team player, with excellent communication skills who is comfortable working closely with fast-paced agile development teams.
Responsibilities
• Setup, manage, maintain, and monitor various DDaaS operating environments/stages (development, staging, UAT, production) on AWS cloud and ensure the operational health of the platform.
• Configure and maintain the platform through available tools, direct data manipulation of databases, storage volumes/buckets, and configuration files.
• Work with Sinclair's various teams to comply with organization's standards, processes, and allocation of resources, to successfully get the platform ready for providing DDaaS services to its customers (ex. security standards, incident management processes, AWS accounts management, …).
• Provide support to the users of different environments including support to Sinclair's external domestic and international development partners.
• Ensure high-availability, high-reliability, high-security, and high-performance of the platform upon completion of the first release of the platform and onward when data distribution services will be offered and available to customers.
• Create and maintain engineering and operational documents relevant to the operations and maintenance of the platform (ex. standard operating procedures to maintain the system or system architecture diagrams).
• Prepare, maintain, and exercise disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure readiness of the system during unusual circumstances.
• Provide assessment and forecast of infrastructure cost for operating the platform and provide solutions to minimize the cost while meeting its requirements.
• Ensure full understanding of the DDaaS platform and its specifications to evaluate solutions provided by development partners and to provide feedback and recommendations to ensure compliance of the solutions with the requirements.
• Work with development partners to design and implement integration plans to integrate various parts of the platform.
• Define metrics and provide solutions to address non-functional requirements of the platform, such as, security, performance, availability, and reliability requirements.
• Actively participate in testing the platform with focus on testing various APIs and testing of non-functional requirements (ex. performance testing).
• Attend and contribute to Agile ceremonies.
• Contribute towards team standards and best practices.
Technical Experience
• 6-8 years Experience working as a network engineer, database administrator, DevOps engineer, cloud engineer.
• 4-6 years working experience with web servers, firewalls, load balancers, DBMSs, and other networking and platform components
• Thorough understanding of networking protocols and networking concepts TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, subnetting, routing, etc
• Familiarity with cloud-native applications.
• 1-2 years Hands-on experience with containerized applications and experience with Docker
• Understanding Kubernetes architecture, configuration, and operations
• Experience with RDBMSs and SQL.
• 2-4 years Experience in maintaining cloud-based, on-prem, and hybrid applications
• 2-3 years of strong knowledge and experience with using REST web services and micro-services architecture.
• 1-2 years hands-on experience in API testing.
• 2-4 Hands-on experience with establishing CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding applications and systems security vulnerabilities
• 2-3 Experience working in Agile development teams.
• Familiarity with incident management processes
• Familiarity with business process workflows concepts.
• Prior experience with broadcast, wireless, telecom, and/or satellite industries.
