Sinclair Digital is transforming how local news and television are produced, distributed, and consumed. We are the digital innovation team for the largest and most diversified television broadcasting company in the country, with affiliations to all major networks and more local television stations than anyone else.
Our Data Engineering team is seeking a hardworking DevOps Engineer with an obsession for data and the cloud, to join our fast-paced Sinclair Digital organization. At Sinclair Digital, data is essential for all our decision-making needs whether its related to product design, measuring new feature effectiveness, or helping our internal teams increase observability. Data can give us keen insights on how we can improve our services for our teams, users, and partners.

You will participate in operations along with data teams to help to debug, improve, and optimize critical backend services. In addition, you will work to improve our platforms and services. This is an opportunity to contribute to our culture and to strategize the service operations and reliability (e.g. incident response, post-mortems, trend analysis, observability standards, etc…). The ideal candidate will have empathy towards others, a passion for solving client's problems, solid software development skills, and the ability to thrive in fast team environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Help collaborate on implementation of the architecture of our next generation Data Platform on Google Cloud Platform
• Develop and maintain deployment pipelines to our various environments
• Utilize your engineering skills to make our products scalable, reliable, predictable, manageable and cost-efficient
• Ensure we are following organization standards and processes
• Help other team members level up DevOps capabilities

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• 3+ years of experience in software development around infrastructure as code
• Experience programming in Python or other scripting language
• Deep experience with Cloud Platforms like AWS or GCP
• Extensive experience managing Linux application servers (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS)
• A strong background in Terraform
• Experience in architecture, deployment, and support of a CI/CD pipelines
• Thorough understanding of infrastructure (firewalls, load balancers, storage, monitoring, security etc.) and have experience with orchestration to develop a cloud solution.
• Experience with Cloud Database Administration on products like Redshift, Snowflake or BigQuery
• Experience with PaaS solutions like EMR, Cloud DataProc or Cloud Dataflow
• Experience with Migrations, Backups, Disaster Recovery implementations
• Docker - Developing, maintain, and improve containerized application
• Ability to implement logging, alerting, and monitoring mechanisms
• Experience working with Agile Development Methodologies
• Excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and compassion towards others
• A drive to challenge the status quo by recommending or pushing for changes that improves reliability and velocity
