Job Description

We are seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all engineering functions of the KPIC television station located in Roseburg, Oregon and KCBY television station located in North Bend, Oregon. Additionally you will coordinate and provide assistance to the Chief Engineers at KMTR and KVAL located in Eugene, Oregon. This individual will be responsible for installing and maintaining video, audio, and other equipment associated with television broadcasting. This includes automation, news room computer systems, data networks, and broadcast transmission equipment. They will also be directly responsible for building maintenance, grounds maintenance, hands-on support of office equipment, as well as maintaining the station vehicle fleet. Travel Required.

Responsibilities:
• Provide the engineering support for the building and installation of electronic systems/equipment as assigned
• Oversee all engineering functions including planning of future equipment installations, requirements, and budgetary recommendations
• Maintain and repair transmitters (AM, FM, TV, Microwave, Fiber, satellite, etc.), receivers, cameras, switchers, graphic systems, audio equipment, video tape systems, routers, automation/editing systems, intercoms, two-way radios, monitors and display systems
• Supervise maintenance of computer software, hardware, and local area network applications
• Consult and communicate with engineering management and associate engineers on technical issues and project progress as required
• Ensure software license compliance and all software versions are up to date
• Supervise preventive maintenance and/or troubleshooting of broadcast electronical equipment, including but not limited to, cameras, audio and video equipment, microwave transmitters and receivers, satellite receivers, and computing equipment
• Supervise and/or perform transmitter maintenance
• Work with Corporate leadership to ensure security and FCC compliance
• Perform tasks associated with daily building upkeep
• Perform building and vehicle safety inspections
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in broadcast electrical system and equipment maintenance
• Self-starter, able to work efficiently without direct supervision
• Proficiency in evaluating, troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining broadcast equipment and IT systems
• Dedication to quality and time management while upholding to all FCC regulations
• Must be flexible to accommodate on-call duties and shift changes including extended hours, weekends, evenings and holidays
• Ability to work on ladders, stand for long periods of time, lift computers or equipment up to 50 lbs and adverse weather conditions.
• Technical degree in electronics or a related field, or an equivalent of work and educational experience
• Perform Building repairs as needed
• Must be able to travel to surrounding stations and transmitters as needed
• Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
