The Assistant Chief Engineer plays an imperative role as the go-between resource for the engineering team, leadership, and the location's personnel. • The possibility of unexpected and/or late-night calls for engineering-emergencies at the station
• Act as the subject matter expert and point of contact for all things as it relates to equipment and technology at the location, as well as stay up-to-date on the new industry standards
• Provide additional support and resource subject matter expertise in the absence of the Chief Engineer to all staff (including leadership and location personnel, and the onsite Engineering team)
• Support and assist the News department in maintaining must-have for live production, including video equipment setup and maintenance.
• Implement, install & maintain engineering systems and provide end-user support across all departments
• Replace or adjust defective and/or improperly functioning equipment
• Networking / Wiring
• Administrative ''musts'' (i.e., tracking and organizing department-related budget information)
• Manage support in the management of Servers, Network Security and Network Services
• PC/Mac hardware/software support of on-site installing, servicing and repairing workstations
• Assist Engineering with Transmitter and Master Control maintenance and support
• Assist with LAN and WAN related hardware and software maintenance
• Develop knowledge of facility specific IT needs and assist in supporting these systems
• Manage physical inventory of all engineering equipment

Requirements:
• On-the-job and/or formal training repairing transmitters
• 2 - 4 years of related broadcast experience
• Valid & unencumbered driver's license
• Work experience, education, and/or formal training/certification in one or more of an engineering-related fields (e.g., technology; information systems; computer science; electrical engineering and/or electronics)
• Associates degree or higher in IT, electronics or computer related field
• A great team-oriented attitude and dedication to quality
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft, Mac and Linux operating systems
• Knowledge and competency in core hardware and computer system technologies, including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and LAN/WAN networking
• Proficiency in troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure
• Excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with Avid related software and hardware products a plus

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule
• On-call duty, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to lift computers and equipment between 40-50 pounds

Bonus points for…
• Previous broadcast experience
• Familiarity with FCC regulations
• Computer or Engineering-related certifications
