Simon & Schuster is seeking a short-term Designer for a 6 month project to work on designing book covers/jackets for the seasonal list. In this role the Designer will be responsible for
• Overseeing daily designs and routing of jacket/cover mechanicals.
• Overseeing jackets/covers going to final production stages and to the printer.
• Attending the weekly art meeting or any sales meeting required by art.
• Assisting the senior art director and editorial staff in creating and providing materials for covers.

Experience Required:
• A keen eye for design
• Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign applications
• Experience in book publishing with knowledge and understanding of book covers and mechanical layout design
• Knowledge of production and jacket/cover effects.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The annual salary for this position is $65.00 - $65.00 PER HOUR

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
