Simon and Schuster Canada is seeking a fulltime Senior Publicity Manager. This person should have a proven track record in creating and executing publicity campaigns and events. A highly motivated team player, the candidate should be creative and have a passion for reading both fiction and non-fiction. The position reports to VP, Director of Publicity & Canadian Sales.

S&S Canada is currently working both remotely and in-person, and the ideal candidate will be based in the Greater Toronto Area.

Primary Responsibilities
• Bring, develop and maintain strong relationships with key media, booksellers, festival directors and influencers
• Develop and implement title-specific publicity campaigns for books and authors
• Accompanying authors to events, tradeshows, conferences as required; ability to attend evening and weekend events, and to travel are a must
• Write press materials and pitch and secure media coverage (broadcast, print, online) including cover reveals & book announcements, feature interviews, reviews & round-ups in national and local media
• Build strong relationships with authors and agents and ensure communication as it relates to publicity efforts
• Work closely and collaboratively with in-house departments including editorial, marketing and sales
• Maintain communication with our global offices where relevant for campaign management
• Conceptualize and execute in-person and virtual author events across Canada to engage readers, increase discoverability and further brand S & S in this market

Preferred Qualifications

6+ year experience in public relations, communications or similar field executing campaigns and events.
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Possess existing relationships with national and local media
• Experience creating and executing highly successful media campaigns
• Demonstrated tour / event management skills
• Must have excellent time management and project management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects under pressure
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work independently, stay organized and demonstrate good follow-up and follow through
