Scribner/Marysue Rucci Books is seeking a Publishing/Marketing Associate. This hybrid role will report to the VP, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief.
On the publishing side:
*Responsibilities include: Reading and reviewing manuscripts; Creating tip sheets; Writing flap and descriptive copy; Running P&Ls; Circulating contract materials; Exhibiting grace and efficiency as a liason with authors and agents.
*Coordinate between the editorial and other departments - art, production, publicity, ad/promo, sales, subsidiary rights.
*Perform routine clerical responsibilities such as executing mailings, processing expense reports, etc.
On the marketing side:
*Responsibilities include: Contributing to Scribner/Marysue Rucci Books' social media outreach (post preparation and scheduling, responding to readers, and researching social media influencers); Conceptualizing and executing outreach to booksellers, librarians, bloggers, book clubs, influencers and other third parties; Executing marketing plans for select paperback reprints (coordinating with the AdPromo department on advertising plans and creative); Handling administrative tasks such as mailings, giveaway fulfillment, and invoice processing.
*Candidate will be a fantastic writer and reader interested in upmarket and literary fiction, suspense, and narrative nonfiction; have great attention to detail; be highly creative, collaborative, and tech-savvy; deadline-sensitive; and preferably have 1-2 years of experience either as an editorial or marketing assistant.
