Simon & Schuster is seeking a Junior Designer/Design Assistant to support the art department of its newly launched Simon Element imprint. This person will be involved in 50 or so titles each year and reports directly to the Art Director.

Job Description:

The Junior Designer/Design Assistant is responsible for designing and assembling jacket mechanicals, image and font research, department presentations, and some marketing assets. The role also oversees the art permissions process, which involves licensing art from stock houses, purchasing fonts, and filing the paperwork for freelance artists and processing payments in concur. The candidate will also be responsible for keeping the covers up to date on the internal servers at Simon, as well as feeding/ distributing them out to booksellers once approved.

Must be proficient in Indesign & photoshop

Must have have strong typographic sensibility and an interest in books, reading and designing for print.

Must be organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
