Gallery Books seeks an energetic and enthusiastic editorial assistant or assistant editor to support an Executive and Senior Editor, one focused on nonfiction and fiction (including horror, franchise licenses, and upmarket novels), and the other focused on narrative nonfiction and upmarket/commercial fiction. Responsibilities include: reviewing and evaluating manuscripts for acquisition; general administrative duties; organizing and scheduling meetings in MS Outlook; close and frequent communication with authors and agents by phone and email; expense tracking; handling all aspects of the production process.

Qualifications:
• Some familiarity with the book production process
• Meticulous attention to detail and top-notch organizational skills
• Ability to anticipate needs and take initiative to solve problems
• Capacity to manage multiple (and often competing) deadlines
• Love of the highbrow and the lowbrow
• Sense of humor and calm under pressure
• A passion for reading and books
