GENERAL INFORMATION
JOB TITLE: A/V Content Lead
DEPARTMENT: Digital Media
REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Digital Engagement & Content Strategy
LOCATION: New York, NY

The A/V Content Lead will lead a multidisciplinary team of audio and visual content creators responsible for producing high-quality digital content across the Shondaland ecosystem, including the website, social media platforms, YouTube, podcasts, and newsletters.
This position will guide strategy, execution, and optimization of all digital content to enhance audience engagement, grow brand awareness, and maximize revenue opportunities, with the specific charge of creating a video community from the ground up and scaling it to exceptional monthly global views.
The incumbent will work to create alignment and healthy collaboration across the Digital Media department in part by maintaining successful cross-functional strategies that ensure digital content is optimized across our various channels and platforms.
By aligning editorial, video, audio, SEO, and marketing efforts, this role plays a key part in shaping Shondaland's digital voice and content experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Digital Content Strategy & Optimization
• Oversee the implementation of the departmental strategy across all digital content, ensuring alignment across platforms (website, YouTube, social media, podcasts, and newsletters)
• Ensure optimization of all website, video, and audio content for SEO by implementing best practices for headlines, metadata, URLs, tags, thumbnails, keywords, video descriptions and more.
• Together with the Digital Marketing Director, create and maintain a social media strategy that is designed to improve reach, engagement, and discoverability of all Shondaland properties and projects as well as drive revenue where needed
• Partner with the Senior Director, Digital Engagement & Content Strategy and the Partnerships team to develop content sales pitches and optimize content for brand partnerships.
Audio/Visual Content Creation & Production
• Manage the day-to-day operations of Shondaland's video and audio production, including field shoots, editing workflows, content scheduling, and delivery.
• Develop and implement a scalable video production strategy with the goal of producing at least two original videos weekly, with room to grow as resources allow.
• Oversee a team of content producers, editors, and contractors to ensure the consistent production of high-quality video and audio content that aligns with the Shondaland brand.
• Manage the scouting and hiring of production crews for field shoots and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Generate and greenlight unique video franchise ideas with high cross-channel appeal to expand audience reach and engagement.
• Leverage YouTube programming experience to analyze platform data, implement optimization strategies, and grow video viewership.
• Additional responsibilities as necessary to meet current and evolving business goals
Audience Engagement & Analytics
• Stay up-to-date on SEO and audience engagement best practices, educating the team on strategies that enhance discoverability, traffic, and audience loyalty.
• Utilize analytics to monitor content performance and make data-driven recommendations for improving engagement, reach, and revenue generation.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Lead and mentor a dynamic, cross-functional digital content team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Collaborate with editorial, marketing, partnerships, and social media teams to ensure content meets strategic goals and is executed seamlessly across platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10+ years of experience in digital content strategy, video/audio production, or multimedia content management.
• Strong understanding of SEO, video production workflows, newsletter strategy, podcast strategy, and social media optimization.
• Experience leading and managing creative teams, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality content under tight deadlines.
• Expertise in YouTube programming, platform analytics, and video SEO best practices.
• Exceptional communication, project management, and organizational skills.
• Passion for digital storytelling, audience engagement, and creating innovative content that resonates with diverse communities.
