Freelance Production Artist

Sesame Workshop is looking to hire a Freelance Production Artist. Brand Creative seeks an individual in this position responsible for building mechanical files for production of books, ads, out-of-home assets, one-sheets, Annual Reports, style guides, managing revisions, and reviewing proofs. All projects are in support of our educational content for Social Engagement and Marketing. This individual also ensures that the branding and imagery aligns with Sesame Street requirements and standards. As necessary, the conversion of design files into print or on-line ready files will honor the designer's intent in all ways possible while refining their creative vision into final artwork sufficient for print and digital assets. Works closely with project management and design on shifting priorities and recommending best approach.

Key Responsibilities
• Works directly with Brand Creative Production team and designers and to create final files for print & digital assets
• Ensures mechanical files reflect designer's intent while adhering to vendor specifications; reviews all production proofs with design, production, & project managers as needed
• Inspects final art files from outside agencies to ensure consistency with brand standards and printer specifications before releasing to printer and archiving
• Responsible for pre-flight of print files checking for resolution, color balancing, color breakdowns, bleeds, crossovers, legal lines, boilerplate, sizing, formatting and all specified final file requirements
• Responsible for troubleshooting technical issues in graphic files for printing and on-line quality and integrity
• Formatting of photo and illustration assets for in-house DAMs and styleguides
• Responsible for file naming standards, archiving, organizing and maintaining asset libraries upon completion of print jobs
• Supports design & marketing teams in preparation of mock-ups and boards for creative presentation meetings

Quaifcations
• 5+ years-experience required as a production artist
• Previous brand agency or in-house creative services experience is required
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Experience in marking up proofs to manage color and retouching rounds with outside agencies, printers, and vendors – understanding of technical production language to build rapport with vendor through proofing mark-ups
• Expertise in Adobe CC - focus on Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
• Expertise in Adobe Acrobat and Bridge
• Experience building brand style guides, asset folders, design templates
• Understanding of color profiles, conversions, breakdowns and balancing
• Understanding of typesetting using Character and Paragraph Styles
Other:
• Knowledge of all Microsoft computer programs particularly: Excel, Word and Power point a plus
• Photoshop retouching skills a plus
• Foreign language skills a plus
• Strong organizational skills, with great attention to detail and accuracy
• Attention to detail; thorough and accurate, no matter how small the task

• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
