Job Description

Sesame Workshop is seeking a Manager, Education, Play to Learn. Reporting to the Senior Director, Education, Play to Learn, this person's work will focus on Sesame Workshop's LEGO Foundation-funded early childhood development programming bringing the power of learning through play to children and families in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh and the Syrian Response Region, as well as pilot programming in Colombia and Kenya.

As the project reaches its later stages and piloting in additional geographies kicks off, the Sesame Workshop Education team requires strategic and thoughtful support to ensure that findings are captured and shared broadly with the sector.

The Manager, Education is responsible for technical coordination and support for the Senior Director, Education, collaborating with her and the Play to Learn Advocacy, MEL, and Project Management teams to create learning products to bolster the legacy of this work. This position requires strong organizational skills, analytic skills, strategic thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well across multiple cultures. This is an excellent position for someone looking to build their technical expertise in ECD in crisis-affected settings and in the creation of learning products to capture the impact of ECD programs in emergencies. Some travel to low-resource settings may be required.

Responsibilities

Knowledge Management
• Support Senior Director in the conceptualization and creation of learning systems, products, and events which may include but are not limited to the creation of an expert advisory board, an evidence-based package for ECD programs in emergencies, and a technical package for implementers
• Lead administrative processes related to the above, including drafting timelines and work plans, submitting and tracking project contracts, submitting and tracking project payments, preparing presentations and fact sheets for diverse audiences, communicating effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and scheduling internal meetings

Program Quality
• In collaboration with Senior Director, ensure that project interventions and content are informed by Sesame Workshop experience, desk research, and needs assessment data, collaborating with Sesame teams and partners
• Advise on project monitoring activities, in collaboration with project partners and research team, to ensure that education interventions are implemented according to program design
• Engage with project consultants, ensuring the delivery of work, managing quality of deliverables, and serving as their liaison with Sesame Workshop education team members
• Represent the project's education team at working-level meetings and external events such as conferences and stakeholder meetings, and conference calls

Multimedia Content
• Participate in vetting and selecting mass media content aligned with curriculum and educational goals
• Contribute to the development of workshop trainings, facilitation, and intervention guides on using mass media in child safe spaces, classrooms, and remotely, in collaboration with project partners
• Potentially review mass media scripts for the creation of new video content to ensure adherence to the curriculum and Sesame Workshop education standards

Business Development
• Work in close collaboration with Sesame Workshop's Philanthropic Development team to leverage experiences for future funding, adaptation and expansion to new geographies
• Engage in partnership consultations for new partnership opportunities

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 3-5 years of progressive experience in relevant areas such as project coordination, international education, child social services, or curriculum development in low resource settings
• Excellent speaking, writing and facilitation skills in English
• Excellent organizational skills, including keen attention to detail and the ability to manage time effectively, track and follow-up on various tasks, and multi-task
• Expert synthesis and distillation skills; expert organization and communication skills
• Experience working and managing inputs across multiple contexts
• Ability to work effectively in multi-cultural settings, demonstrating respect for and interest in leveraging varied approaches to early learning and education
Other Experience & Skills
• Professional experience in designing, delivering, and creating learning products for early childhood education, parenting programs, teacher training and/or related services in low-resource, humanitarian, emergency, and/or post-emergency settings
• Master's degree in International Education, International Development, or a related field
