Technical Operator

Job Description

The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring for a Technical Operator. They will be responsible for supporting the control room, using hands-on knowledge and skills to anticipate needs and troubleshoot issues.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Provide technical support for remote guests using various video conferencing platforms.
• Provide support in managing incoming signals from the field.
• Organize and ingest video from field crews and affiliates for editorial use.
• Act as the primary technical support for operations for control room and studio for specified times.
• Work with network engineering and operations to ensure needs are met in control room and studio.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years professional experience in live television.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Must work well under the pressure of a live broadcast.
• Must be able to make quick decisions and give accurate instructions.
• Ability to solve problems under pressure and apply hands-on knowledge to do so.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues over the phone with remote guests.
• Possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Must understand the entire scope of needs in the studio and control room.
• Good knowledge of IT applications in relation to television broadcast equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Flexible work hours are required, including weekends, holidays, and possible overtime hours.
