Senior Director, Operations – Scripps Sports (remote)
Scripps Sports is seeking a Senior Director, Operations. This position will serve as the lead on all technical planning, and broadcast operations, manage the selected crewing companies, broadcast vendors, and production budgets for 2-4 professional sports broadcasts. Lead and optimize our technical production operations for NHL and NBA broadcasts. This pivotal role involves coordinating with facilities, vendors, and internal teams to ensure seamless, high-quality broadcasts while managing costs and enhancing operational efficiency. Manage key cross-functional projects and processes, ensuring cross functional alignment in support of the company's long-term strategy.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Technical Production Coordination:
• Oversee and coordinate all technical production activities with NHL and NBA facilities across the US and Canada.
• Collaborate with league broadcast officials, arena contacts, crewing companies, jib companies, and TV truck vendors to ensure seamless execution of broadcasts.
Vendor and Network Management:
• Utilize a robust professional network of industry production vendors to streamline operations and negotiate cost-effective solutions.
• Work closely with NHL and NBA league broadcast officials and key industry contacts to maintain high standards of production quality while optimizing costs.
Tech Book Creation:
• Develop comprehensive technical documentation (tech books) for each broadcast and for each team.
• Ensure all internal stakeholders are aligned with the tech book specifications and requirements.
Liaison with Engineering:
• Serve as the primary liaison to the engineering team in Atlanta to facilitate the setup of transmission, intercom systems, and other technical infrastructure.
• Coordinate technical setups and troubleshooting to ensure flawless broadcast operations.
Operational Excellence:
• Continuously assess and refine production processes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising broadcast quality.
• Implement best practices and innovative solutions to maintain the highest standards in sports broadcasting.
Other:
• Ensure process compliance from all stakeholders.
• Project Manage strategy, budgeting, and planning sessions, workshops, and off-sites.
• Draft internal communications coming out of executive committees.
• Manage executive-level dashboards.
• Act as a point of contact between top management and other stakeholders.
• Assist in 'operationalizing' major goals to support broad functional objectives.
• Determine key metrics that can best be used to show the organization's success in the marketplace and its profitability.
• Identify potential competing/disruptive technologies or product substitutes and develop a strategy to address as part of the roadmap.
• Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
• Generally, 10+ years of experience in related field preferred

• Up to 25% travel
• Scripps offers a remote working option for this position
COMPENSATION RANGE:
Annual Salary: $110,000.00 - $115,000
Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in Colorado.
