Network Engineer

Job Description

Join our team at Scripps Corporate as a Network Engineer where you'll play a crucial role in designing and maintaining the digital backbone that powers our media operations. In this position, you'll leverage your technical expertise to ensure our network infrastructure remains robust, secure, and scalable to meet the evolving needs of our business. Scripps offers a hybrid work option for this position.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi)
• Configure and manage switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability
• Participate in network upgrade projects including data center modernization, firewall replacements, and SD-WAN deployment
• Implement network security best practices including access control, segmentation, and compliance monitoring
• Maintain documentation of network architecture, diagrams, and configurations
• Provide on-call support for critical issues and participate in incident response
• Collaborate with vendors, ISPs, and internal teams to resolve connectivity and infrastructure issues
• Participate in change management and follow ITIL/ITSM processes
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred
• Experience with Juniper SRX firewalls is essential
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
• Detail-oriented approach and adept at managing priorities
• Strong team player mentality with a customer-focused mindset
• Hands-on experience with enterprise network hardware
• Proficiency with routing protocols and switching technologies
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network monitoring tools
