Lead Network Engineer - Remote

Job Description

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Lead Network Engineer responsible for managing IP networks and ensuring their optimal performance. This is a remote position located in Mountain or Pacific time zones.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Provide senior level support to gain and retain customer satisfaction.
• Provide consultation on optimal network topology.
• Follow up on cases as well as escalate them for timely resolution.
• Accountable for crucial network parameters such as uptime, reliability, availability etc.
• Periodically report on customer satisfaction.
• Build network topology.
• On an on-going basis, proactively monitor the health and performance of network and analyze network trends.
• Proactively identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose network issues.
• Research alternative solutions or workarounds to the problem.
• Appropriately escalate issues to responsible parties depending on the problem area.
• Recommend and implement researched alternative solutions on the network.
• Document issues and resolution for future reference in Knowledge Base.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related certifications.
• Minimum 8 years of related experience.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Must have advanced and diverse knowledge in technology, to include design and implementation in broad range of technologies.
• Must have a broad range of skills within a professional discipline to effectively perform complex assignments and demands familiarity with principles, theories, concepts and technologies as well as applied knowledge of established procedures, policies and practices.
• Must have independent thinking and demands full use and application of principles, theories and concepts in IP technologies.
• Strong Customer interfacing background
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
• Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects/activities concurrently.
• Must be disciplined and oriented in practice of and adherence to process and procedures
• Understanding of and experience with Cisco IOS is a must.
• Understanding of and experience with Juniper JUNOS is a major plus. Experience with SRX security appliance is very desirable.
• Experience on Pulse SSL VPN appliances, Cisco WLC, and Cisco GSS is a plus.
