POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager of Business Intelligence is a hybrid contributor-leader role within Spurs Sports & Entertainment's Data Operations team. This position combines hands-on expertise in business reporting with strategic collaboration and people management.
As a key stakeholder in SS&E's analytics ecosystem, you will lead the creation, maintenance, and evolution of reporting tools used across departments. You'll own a wide range of BI initiatives, from building dashboards and managing survey pipelines to delivering fan insights and developing new audience segments.
This role also involves direct management of Business Intelligence roles/personnel, providing task prioritization, mentorship, and support for professional growth. You'll work closely with data engineering and CRM teams to ensure data accuracy, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business goals into analytical solutions. As our BI environment continues to evolve, this position will also play a key role in the ongoing refinement of scalable reporting frameworks, including the adoption of analytics engineering practices.
What you'll DO:
• Lead the development and refinement of internal dashboards and reporting tools to support data-informed decisions across the organization. Reporting platforms may include Power BI, Tableau, and other evolving BI tools.
• Design and manage survey-based research pipelines, from stakeholder intake to form-building, logic testing, and insight delivery, supporting initiatives such as post-event surveys, strategic fan feedback loops, and marketing attribution.
• Oversee regular updates to dashboards and reporting logic, including seasonal rollovers, structural upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Manage and mentor a Business Intelligence roles, providing guidance on task prioritization, skill development, and analytical quality assurance.
• Serve as a connector between data systems and business users by gathering requirements, facilitating cross-departmental collaboration, and translating needs into effective reporting solutions.
• Validate and troubleshoot data integrity issues using SQL and internal QA processes; proactively monitor ETL job schedulers outcomes and CDP table refresh to ensure stable data delivery.
• Partner with teams across the organization to align reporting with business objectives, including segmentation projects and fan demographic analyses.
• Build and maintain CDP audience segments, tags, and attributes to support personalized marketing, customer lifecycle analysis, and strategic campaign targeting.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and documentation to streamline recurring workflows such as survey launches, dashboard updates, and data source refreshes.
• Contribute to a culture of data excellence through cross-training, internal knowledge sharing, and development of reporting standards and governance protocols.
• Contribute to the build and maintenance of analytics models, including testing, documentation, and model lineage to support consistent and trustworthy reporting.
• Partner with the Data Engineering team to transition SQL-based transformations into managed ETL pipelines that promote modularity, scalability, and governance.
Who you are:
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in Business Intelligence reporting, mathematics, data analytics or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, or the related fields.
• Proficiency in Python or R.
• Ability to perform statistical analyses.
• Proven knowledge in the use of Business Intelligence tools i.e POWER BI and Tableau
• Expert knowledge in use of Structured Query Language (SQL).
• Expertise in business intelligence, reporting frameworks, and data visualization best practices.
• Familiarity with sports & entertainment industry metrics and fan engagement analytics.
• Understanding of Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) and audience segmentation strategies.
• Knowledge of data governance, ETL workflows, and quality assurance protocols.
• Awareness of organizational strategic objectives and how analytics supports key initiatives.
• Champion Communicator.
• Demonstrated ability to tell a story with numbers/data.
• The ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks.
• Must have the ability to work some nights, weekends, and holidays.
