We are seeking an experienced data engineer to join our team! The person in this role will contribute to the implementation of a comprehensive basketball information database. They will be responsible for making data architecture decisions, handling outside vendor data, and building ETL processes. Our ideal candidate will be familiar with the software development life cycle, including design, implementation, maintenance, and support. This position will work remotely as a part of the Basketball Operations Analytics department, and will collaborate with the entire analytics group.

Responsibilities
• Lead the management and administration of a Microsoft SQL Server database.
• Help ensure database data integrity by building and maintaining resilient data processes.
• Manage resources from third party vendors providing technological resources and/or data feeds to the Basketball Operations department, along with various technologies (analytical programs, systems, and resources) utilized by the department.
• Architect data storage solutions to efficiently store information in an accessible fashion.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from accredited university in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field with focus on computer programming
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server programming and administration skills along with an understanding of database design and data collection methodology, including the underlying relational and dimensional data models
• Proficiency with Python is required, and experience with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SQLAlchemy is preferred
• Experience in building ETL processes to process and organize data
• Understanding of how to utilize cloud based solutions such as those offered by Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks
• Strong organizational skills, with a robust attention to detail, in regards both to checking and working with data
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work with and communicate with people from all departments and at all levels of the organization
• Ability to handle high pressure situations while still being attentive to the detail and excellent work product required
• Experience with building video streaming solutions is a plus
• Familiarity with automation systems such as Airflow and Jenkins is a plus
• Knowledge of advanced basketball statistics, and knowledge of common basketball statistical resources, both public and proprietary is a plus
• Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive/confidential situations and information
• A working knowledge of the NBA, and the NBA rules & regulations, is a plus
