Role x YouYou are a creative, data-driven thought leader who will play a key part in Refinery29's off-platform visual storytelling, specifically on TikTok. You must have extensive knowledge of this platform and others (Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter a bonus), experience collaborating with the community, and a desire to be on the cutting edge of audience development. Superior organizational abilities, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail are a must.
Role x Team
Grow Refinery29's smart, driven, and stylish social-first audience through expansive, creative storytelling. Become a central point of contact for our editorial leads, advising on platform and format to bring their ideas to life, underpinning decisions with data, and reporting to the Social Media Director and Senior Social Editor.
In the short term you will…
• Oversee daily content scheduling across TikTok, ensuring a regular cadence of series and balance of new formats with a focus on vertical video creation.
• Work closely with the editorial team to ideate packaging of stories, live reporting, and new and creative executions on various platforms.
• Coordinate the design, production and deployment of social first visual and motion assets by working closely with the Art team.
• Work closely with analytics for optimized reporting, and be comfortable to analyze content performance using analytics tools (CrowdTangle, Google Analytics, Buzzsumo, Domo).
• Use editing tools to record, cut, and edit videos to live natively on the platform.
After 6 months in this role you will…
• Generate and pitch social-first video that will resonate with global audiences and align with business goals of the company.
• Keep abreast of the next-gen talent and primary sources who represent what R29 stands for, partnering with them on content creation to help present our brand to new audiences.
• Help manage the platform's social budget, maximizing spend for results, aligning to OKRs.
And after a year you should be…
• Ideating around new tools (TikTok Live, e.) and testing in innovative ways
• Support & coordinate the design, production and deployment of social first and projects
• Report on success, identifying trends and opportunities
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with US and UK editorial and affiliate teams, to produce mission-driven social first content and projects working hand-in-hand with editorial
• Analyze and create reports on audience data and make recommendations for maximum growth and impact
• Build an active and engaged Gen-Z audience on our platforms
• Identify, approach and negotiate with external talent to work with Refinery29 for social content
• Keep abreast of all industry news and updates across social platforms and their technologies that might affect performance
• Provide strategic insight to the business on archetypes, best practice and story positioning, feeding back to our commercial team on where there could be monetizable opportunities
You have these:
• 1+ years of consumer-facing social media management or similar roles
• Extensive knowledge of the TikTok app and all of its features
• The ability to shoot and edit vertical video quickly and on brand
• Clear understanding of audience development strategies and best practices and an understanding of video and platform optimisation
• Strong copywriting skills
• Comfortable analyzing content performance using analytics tools (CrowdTangle, Google Analytics, Buzzsumo, Domo, Adobe Creative Suite)
• Strong leadership, communication, and management skills
• A love and an eye for Refinery29's aesthetic is a must!

• Energized working in a fast-paced, high volume operation
• College degree preferred
• A native understanding of social media
• Collaborative and open to feedback in pursuit of constantly pushing content to new heights
• Extremely organized but with attention to detail
• Outstanding creative ideas and sound editorial judgement
• A highly creative mindset and a knowledge of fashion, beauty, and social media trends

Pay Range Details:
New York/California: 60,000 - 62,500 USD
Outside New York/California: 60,000 - 62,500 USD
