Reel One Entertainment is looking for a Music Coordinator to be based anywhere in the Eastern Standard Time zone.

Position Overview:

As Music Coordinator your role will be to administer the music rights of our various productions.

  • You will track the life cycle of our titles, from pre-production to production and delivery. You will be the point person to our various composers and music suppliers, you’ll work closely with our production centers in Canada and the USA, as well as with SOCAN, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, SACEM and the various music societies worldwide.
  • You will draft music agreements and negotiate deal terms as necessary.
  • You will keep our music libraries and databases up to date.
  • You will liaise with our Business Affairs and Finance departments for various music related activities.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the contracts for our composers, prepare the music publishing agreements, music sync and master licenses with third parties, as well as music licenses from own music libraries.
  • Make sure the music cue sheets are complete and final and that Reel One owns the necessary rights to each cue. Collect each music cue and save on our server.
  • Submit music cue sheets to various societies, oversee E&O clearance of licensed music along with Distribution or Business Affairs departments, as applicable.
  • Communicate with our composers, send them final music cue sheets and confirmation of submission to societies, answer their various queries. Find new composers for our projects. Liaise with creatives and producers on composer availabilities and assignments.
  • Deal with societies worldwide at all levels. Collect and review royalty reports form music societies. Communicate with societies on any issues.
  • Administer various music sales relationship (prepare and provide all documents required per movie, submit new movies, etc.). Communicate with our partners about their various contractual requests (airdates, sales, licenses, etc.). Communicate with our partners re shared libraries.
  • Maintain and administer the various music libraries. Find new libraries; liaise with producers and editorial on available music.
  • Negotiate, contract and acquire the rights to specific songs as requested by production.


Who You Are:

  • Experience dealing with music cue sheets, music agreements and music societies
  • A good decision maker and have a keen eye for detail
  • Administration experience/or educational background in Administration
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Can contribute to a close-knit team environment and are a great communicator, but you are also perfectly comfortable working autonomously and can get the job done
  • Confident and capable of discussing with external composers or clients to negotiate terms of agreements
  • Able to multi-task and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Take on each day with a great attitude
