PMC: Studio Manager
Penske Media Corporation, a leading independent global media and information services company whose award-winning content attracts a passionate monthly audience of more than 412 million is seeking an experienced Studio Manager to support successful content creation across our digital and print media brands. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, readiness, and integrity of multiple studio spaces, ensuring seamless execution for both in-studio and on-location productions.
The Studio Manager serves as the central point of contact for all studio activity-partnering with producers, internal teams, freelancers, vendors, and talent to deliver high-quality productions in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
Studio & Production Operations
• Act as the primary liaison for all studio productions, including producers, talent, freelancers, contractors, and internal teams
• Coordinate bookings, scheduling, and equipment tracking across multiple studios
• Determine production scope, goals, timelines, and studio availability; maintain accurate online calendars
• Communicate studio policies, access procedures, and arrival details to all stakeholders
• Distribute production schedules and arrival details to Security, Facilities, and Reception
• Support on-location productions, including gear prep, logistics, and coordination
Studio Infrastructure & Equipment Management
• Maintain the integrity and readiness of all studio spaces, including sound stages, cyc walls, pocket studios, audio booths, equipment rooms, and temporary setups
• Oversee gear prep, check-out, and returns for on-site and off-site productions
• Develop, document, and enforce quality control standards for equipment handling and workflows
• Manage a comprehensive, accurate inventory of video, photography, lighting, and grip equipment, including asset tagging and data maintenance
• Ensure damaged or aging equipment is repaired, replaced, or retired appropriately
• Design and maintain efficient, intuitive storage layouts and organizational systems
Technical & Vendor Collaboration
• Oversee technology upgrades, firmware updates, and equipment repairs, coordinating with vendors and rental houses as needed
• Collaborate with engineers, production partners, and external vendors to support studio infrastructure
• Stay current on production technology trends and evaluate new tools and equipment

Guest & Talent Experience
• Serve as main point of contact for visiting producers, photographers, crew, talent, and publicists
• Greet and escort guests, providing studio orientation and facility information
• Coordinate deliveries of rented equipment, sets, backgrounds, and catering
Budgeting & Purchasing
• Manage departmental capital and expense purchases within approved budgets
• Research, recommend, and purchase equipment and technical furniture to best serve multiple teams
• Oversee replenishment of expendables and daily production supplies
Daily Studio Support
• Provide hands-on support with studio setup and breakdown as needed
• Ensure studios are reset at the end of each day: equipment stored properly, spaces clean and production-ready
• Confirm all equipment is accounted for and secured
• Maintain cyc walls and floors, including painting as required
What You Bring
• A proactive, self-directed work style with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Advanced technical knowledge of cameras, lighting systems, video distribution, and DMX-based environments
• Experience building and maintaining quality control workflows for production equipment
• Excellent communication skills and a service-oriented mindset
• Ability to manage multiple productions and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Required Experience
• 5+ years working in studio production environments, rental houses, or similar settings
• 2+ years working on film or production sets
• Hands-on experience with studio lighting systems and production equipment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting media, publishing, tech, or creative marketing teams
• Background in studio operations, inventory management, or production management
• Experience working with freelancers, talent, and high-profile guests
