Overview:
As a Lead Video Software Engineer, you will support the ongoing design, development, and maintenance of an industry-leading, Over-the-Top (OTT) software platform. You will partner with engineers, product managers, and project managers to help design, develop, implement and test features.

You'll work closely with our product teams and other engineering groups throughout the company to ensure we're fitting the best technology to the needs of the business. You will be hands-on reviewing and producing code, architecture proposals, test plans, and more. As lead, you will mentor and foster the career growth of the engineers on your team while promoting a collaborative, inclusive culture. You'll emphasize the importance of building maintainable solutions by further establishing and defending our standards for code quality.
Role Details:
• Subject Matter Expert (SME), ensuring each individual contributor is trained properly. Consult with the manager on team status and needs.
• Lead scrum team initiatives and feature kickoff meetings
• Participate in architecture review meetings
• Identify and outline Tech Debt tickets, KT tickets, etc.
• Deliver concise team updates.
• Groom with the scrum managers and help the product manager keep the backlog full
• Collaborate with other engineering managers across the company to determine priorities, best practices, opportunities for interoperability, and refine functional requirements
• Facilitate knowledge transfers one-on-one or in small groups.
Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience in a relevant field (engineering, physics, mathematics, etc.)
• 7+ years of experience designing and implementing maintainable, scalable, and pragmatic software solutions from the ground up
• A passion for people management with the desire to build a strong, cohesive, and inclusive team
• Proven experience with streaming protocols like HLS & MPEG-DASH
• Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS and GCP
• Experience with technical writing and design documentation
• Strong communication with proven ability to work well within a team and across teams
Preferred Skills:
• Understanding of DRM - FairPlay, WideVine, or PlayReady.
• Infrastructure as Code
• Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm
• GitHub and GitHub Actions.
Software skills:
• 2+ years experience with Node.js and Typescript
• 8+ years experience with any compiled, back end languages (examples include: GoLang, C/C++, Java,Rust)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $140,000.00 - 180,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
