Senior Financial Analyst, The Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group (Open to Remote)

The Knopf Doubleday Finance department is seeking a self-motivated and strategic thinking Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. Overall responsibilities for this role include taking a leading role in developing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts and developing monthly reporting. The role works closely with both the Finance team and the rest of the Publishing Division.

Responsibilities:

The role reports to the VP/Senior Director, Strategy & Finance and is involved in all financial aspects related to publishing including but not limited to:
• Financial Planning and Reporting:
• Prepare full P&L (Sales through EBITA) for periodic forecasts;
• Analyze and reconcile monthly P&L statements versus forecast and prior year;
• Publishing Support
• Perform author analyses (post-publication P&Ls and author histories);
• Provide support to editors in acquisitions;
• Perform pricing analyses;
• Review author royalty statements for reserves;
• Review author contracts for accuracy with regards to financial terms;
• Approve and process invoices as necessary;
• Identify areas of improvement and potential opportunities;
• Ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed

Requirements:
• Advanced MS Excel skills are mandatory for this role: must be able to easily manipulate large volumes of data and use advanced formulas/pivot tables/v- and h-lookups, etc.
• 5+ years of business experience in a finance/accounting role, or related analytical role
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections as well as communicating results with management and directors
• Understanding of basic financial principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload efficiently and meet deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate at all levels and across all organizational functions
• Highly organized with a strong ability to prioritize, plan, and execute multiple projects and deadlines
• Working knowledge of Business Objects and Power BI a plus

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$86,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
