Marketing Manager, Harmony Books & Rodale Books

The Marketing Director at Harmony and Rodale is currently looking for a creative and team-oriented marketer to manage campaigns from proposal/inception stage to publication and beyond the initial pub date.

The team at Harmony Books and Rodale Books publish unique approaches to health and wellness, lifestyle, diet, cooking, business, self-improvement, relationships, parenting, and spirituality, to guide readers to become their best selves both inside and out. Our recently published bestsellers include Eat Better, Feel Better by Giada De Laurentiis, Remember by Lisa Genova, Get Good with Money by Tiffany Aliche, and Karma by Sadhguru. Titles soon to join a rich backlist of bestselling, authoritative, and conversation-changing titles that include Thrive and The Sleep Revolution by Arianna Huffington, The Bulletproof Diet by Dave Asprey, The 4-Hour Workweek and The 4-Hour Body by Timothy Ferriss, Vice President Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, and series like Bad Manners, Wheat Belly and The South Beach Diet.

This proficient manager possesses the ability to translate their marketing experience into creating a robust, customized, and effective promotional campaign, working in conjunction with the publicity team to make the biggest splash for each of our new titles coming to market, and for backlist titles that require re-promotion.
On the Harmony and Rodale marketing team, creative independence and collaborative ideation are exercised and nurtured and we welcome a marketing manager ready to further explore the following responsibilities:

The Role:
• Works closely with the Marketing Director, utilizing research and analytics to create, communicate, and implement marketing campaigns for a variety of titles, focusing on health, wellness, lifestyle, business, and cooking titles coming to market, as well as for key backlist titles
• Collaborates directly with authors and agents to communicate, refine, and execute marketing plans
• Regularly presents promotional campaigns to key stakeholders within the company
• Manage multiple marketing projects with varying timelines while simultaneously building relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally
• Thinks deeply and identifies available audiences for each book that we publish and ways to reach them through advertising, promotion, and social media while also keeping up to date on new platforms and marketing methods
• Flexibly manages book promotion plans and budgets that grow and change over time
• Collaborates with authors to maximize campaign effectiveness including increasing social media platforms and working collaboratively to build author brand
• Pitches organizations, VIPs, social media influencers, and partners for cross-promotional opportunities for single titles, as well as for topic-specific promotions through the Well Enough social media platforms and e-newsletter program.

The Essentials:
• A cultivated eye with a strong understanding in managing key marketing concepts and tools including email, social media marketing, and search.
• A creative curiosity leveraged successfully into targeted marketing campaigns
• An open-minded reader with the interest and ability to focus their attention to detail and marketing expertise to the health and wellness, lifestyle, diet, cooking, business, self-improvement, relationships, parenting, and spirituality space
• Motivated self-starter that can balance being proactive and independent with collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
• Display fluency in relationship management through your excellent communication and presentation skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Photoshop, and Adobe
• Experience in basic HTML skills is helpful in the role but not required
• Though marketing experience in publishing is a plus, it is not required or needed to succeed in this role-initiative, innovation, project management, attention to detail, and communication skills are key
